I was laying on the floor. It was cold. The fabric on my body was worn out and ripped. The once white sheet now turned brown and yellow. My face covered in dirt with bags under my eyes. It was clearly night. I knew because of a small window in the room. I heard footsteps in the distance. The came closer and closer until they stopped in front of the door. They waited a few seconds until the door creaked and light streaks came in the room. I turned around to protect my eyes from hurting. My eyes couldn't even adjust before the door closed again. A woman now standing in the room with me. She always came to me at night. Everyday she was dressed in neat clothes and had a full face off make-up, her hear neatly done and she had an amazing posture. Even the way she stood was admirable. The woman in that is standing in my room makes me call her mom. I'm not so sure if she is but she gives me food and water so I'm definitely not complaining. As usual she brings me my supplies and sings a song to me and then leaves again. It's been like this for 20 years. My mom sings a special song for me every time I turn a year older. On my birthday she always stays longer and sits on the ground next to me. She explains what the outside world is like and teaches me stuff. She brings me books to read about almost anything. I'm grateful for her but I want to see the outside world someday.

When I'm in my room alone I like to read and carve things in the wall. I keep track of the days each year so that I know when mom is going to stay a little longer. Every year on the same day I hear loud thunder in the sky and my room lights up. I hear people cheering and celebrating. My mom said that that's the day the new year starts. And the loud thunder is apparently called firework the first time I was tall enough to see outside my window, I was absolutely amazed. The sky was full of different colors and there was a crowd cheering and hugging each other. I was jealous of them.

They were free and enjoying life and I was stuck in this dirty room. The worst thing was that I didn't even know why. Mom refused to tell me and I couldn't speak to anybody else. I was clueless. My eyes started closing still thinking about mom and the pretty fireworks. I was sleeping when I heard footsteps again. That was something unusual since mom already stopped by. The footsteps stopped in front of my door and the door started making noise but it didn't open yet. I guess the person behind the door was struggling to open it but the person didn't give up and succeeded. I knew this wasn't mom so I hurried to make myself as small as possible in a corner of the room.

The light came in my room and it hurt my eyes. Though the person in front of me didn't close the door. I looked up and peeked through my eyes. It was a man standing in front of me. I had never seen one this close before. He looked distressed and panicked. We made eye contact and his eyes got even wider. ''oh my god. I uhh I'm sorry? Uhm do you need help? Why are you here? Who are you?'' and then he looked down and face palmed his forehead. ''I'm sorry ma'am, but are you okay? You look like you've been kidnapped.'' I looked at him probably with a confused face. I was confused as to why he is here and also the questions he asked. " I'm sorry but I do not know what you mean with kidnapped."

He sighed and closed the door behind him. I could fully see him now. His hair was black and done neatly, though some hairs were sticking to his forehead because of his sweat. His eyes were big and his lips looked moist. "are you here willingly? Like is it your choice? Or are you a prisoner?" I was distracted by his beautiful clothing. I didn't even hear what the young man had said but I stood up with all my power and limbed to him. He was wearing a dark blue jacket with gold detail and shoulder pads matched with white dress pant and black leather boots. I stood in front of him and made eye contact with him. Then I looked down at his jacket. I touched his shoulder pads and then the golden buttons. He looked at me weird. "ma'am have you ever seen the castles uniform before? You look astonished by it." I shook my head. "I haven't seen it before" he nodded. And looked down at my clothes. I feel exposed while his eyes are tracing every part off my body. "have you ever been outside before?" I shook my head again. "how did you find me? No one's ever been here except for mom." He froze. His body tensed and his scanned the room quickly. "I was on duty but there was a rumor that there was a room in the castle with a girl in it. She is probably the princess that died 20 years ago when the queen gave birth to the little princess. I am just taking a wild guess but if the rumor is true than you are the hidden princess, darling."
