Today's practice sucked. Tota felt as if the warm Brazilian sun was cutting through her skin. Her tanned feet, once clean, were now dotted with sand particles. The curly haired girl's legs and forearms hurt from practicing so much.

"Come on Tota!" Her trainer yelled, "The athletes from the tournament won't go easy on you!"

Tota knew trainer Ju was right. She trained at a country club in the middle of the city of São Paulo. The most populated city in the whole of Brazil. There were a total of  16 clubs who would be participating in the National tournament. All the people from those clubs were amazing. She would know.

Last year, a girl called Ana Banana Dall'egg represented her club. But she lost at the semi finals. Totes didn't understand how she didn't win the tournament since Ana was by far the best beach tennis players that she had ever seen. Because of this, Tota knew she had to train as hard as possible in these last few weeks before the tournament to even stand a chance.

Totes and her mom were one of the top club patrons since they were there all night and day. Her mom, talking and having fun with her friends, and Tota, practicing. Beach tennis was more that just a hobbie to her, it was a possible carrier. Sure Totes did good at school, but her true focus was on beach tennis. She loved how her mom had always supported her dream of becoming a professional beach tennis player. Tota's mom always brought water on long practice days and always sat on the bleachers at night watching and yelling out encouraging things. It was one of these nights where she met him.
