"How have you been? I've missed you, ma," he says with a look of sincerity.

However, I know the real him, The boy who broke my heart eight years ago. So I give the dirtiest look and reply, "Boy, fuck you," snatching my arm and walking away. This time, I'm the one walking away and with my head up.

I know you're probably wondering how we got here; well, let me take you back eight years ago when Mr. Superstar was just Jayson.

Sneaking up behind him to try and scare him I jump on him while yelling "BOO". He didn't get scared or turn around with a smile or laugh instead he looked me in the eye and told me

"We should talk, I didn't ask you out here for allat". Which made me feel like I was bothering him or being annoying and I hate feeling like that.

With the joy leaving my body I went and sat next to him on the bench with my anxiety on ten. As soon as I sat down without looking at me he said

" We can't do this no more". frozen in place I replied, "Why, was it because I asked you to make us public? Because if that's it I promise I can wait." fighting the tears wanting to fall.

Finally looking me in my eyes he says

"No, it isn't because of that. Well partially. you're fallin for me and it's just not there for me. I'm gonna go off to college and be one of the top ball players and I can't have no girl especially one that's not mine holding me back" shrugging his shoulders.

"ouch, that hurts. you're right I'm not your girl, but that's cause of you! I've been here through it all and now I'm just some girl that's not worth it?! I've sat here and been the quiet mouse cause I understood at the end of the day I wasn't your girl. But don't make it seem I'm just this delusional ass girl who you didn't feed lies to. Helping me look up requirements to the schools you wanna go to, buying me gifts, talking to me, being my first everything!" the tears I fought so hard to hold in finally dropped as I sat there waiting for a response.

"I'm not gonna sit here and do this with you Keyani. Let's just end this maturly." He says getting up. Keyani knew this was the end, but one she wasn't prepared for.

As Jayson's words hung heavy in the air, Keyani felt her heart breaking into a million pieces. she begged him to reconsider, tears streaming down her face as she clutched onto the last shreds of their love. But Jayson remained resolute, his decision final.

"I'll see you around." He left, leaving Keyani alone with the echoes of their shared laughter and the haunting silence of a love abruptly cut short.

Reaching home she tried once more to see if he'd change his mind, so she attempted to call him, but The harsh click echoed through Keyani's empty room, severing their once-shared world. Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed onto her bed, her heart pounding with the weight of shattered dreams. She dialed his number repeatedly, desperation lacing her voice, begging him to reconsider. Yet, each attempt ended in voicemail, a cruel reminder of the distance that had swiftly grown between them.

Weeks passed, and the silence continued. Keyani, though hurt, attributed Jayson's absence to his deliberate choice to ignore her. Little did she know, her world was about to undergo a seismic shift. One evening, as the weight of loneliness pressed upon her, a wave of nausea engulfed her. The realization struck her, and fear gripped her heart. Keyani's mother, sensing her daughter's distress, handed her a pregnancy test, their eyes silently acknowledging the impending storm.

"Don't fight it baby just go take it." her mother says knowing she was about to put up a fight.

In the quiet of her room, Keyani anxiously awaited the results, her mother standing by, a mix of worry and understanding etched on her face. All while Keyani's mind raced with thoughts of Jayson. The timer's shrill ring shattered the stillness, and she and her mother rushed to the test. Together they read the life-altering words on the test.

"Pregnant." The word seemed to hang in the air, both a revelation and a challenge.

Tearfully, she apologized to her mother, who held her close,

"I'm so so sorry momma, I'm so sorry" realizing the impending transformation in their lives.

As the reality settled in, Keyani decided she wanted to keep the baby. Summoning courage In the quiet of her room, Keyani reached out to Jayson, seeking support in this unexpected journey. Only to discover she was blocked on every platform. Undeterred, she turned to Jayson's brother, Jordan, seeking answers. Jordan reluctantly disclosed that Jayson had left for homeschooling and basketball training at an undisclosed college, offering no further details. Even Jordan, torn between family loyalty and empathy, eventually blocked Keyani.

Accepting the solitude fate had dealt her, Keyani resolved to face the challenges ahead. Alone in her circumstance, she vowed to embrace the impending responsibilities with strength. She grew resilient, recognizing the need to mature and vowing never to let anyone play with her emotions as Jayson had.  Their last conversation echoed in her mind – Jayson's distant words and Jordan's guarded responses. The harsh reality prompted a resolve within her.  it was time to grow up and forge ahead. In the crucible of pain and abandonment, a newfound strength emerged within her, a determination to navigate the journey ahead, no matter how uncertain. The first chapter of Keyani's story unfolded, marked by heartbreak, unexpected twists, and the resilience needed to confront an unforeseen future.
