It was finally lunch time. Cassie sat at a table with Alex and Nathan. Alex was mostly silent while Nathan and Cassie kept talking about their favorite musical artists.

"Yeah, fine. Bruno Mars is really talented, but he's not better than Taylor Swift." Nathan said.

"Come on, Nate. Nobody's better than Taylor Swift. I mean have you listened to '1989'? And I'm not talking about the 2014 one, I'm talking about the Taylor's Version one. This is literally my favorite." Cassie said, getting more and more excited.

Her obsession with Taylor Swift made Alex and Nathan laugh. Cassie's eyes moved from the two boys in front of her to Jackie who was still in the cafeteria line. Nathan noticed her too.

"Should we invite her to sit down?" He asked.

"Of course." Cassie said, hitting Alex in the arm so he goes get Jackie.

"Oh. Yeah, i'll go grab her." Alex said as he stood up. But he stopped when he saw Cole approaching Jackie.

Cassie looked at Alex as he grabbed his bag and left the table.

Nathan turned to him. "Hey, where are you going?"

"I'll see you later." Alex said before leaving the cafeteria.

Nathan turned to Cassie. "Do you think we should follow him?"

"Maybe." Cassie shrugged.

"But you barely ate." Nathan said, looking at Cassie's lunch tray.

Cassie picked up her bag. "I'll eat later."

"You didn't eat this morning either." Nathan looked at her worriedly.

Cassie was about to said something, when she saw Isaac coming towards them. "Hey do any of you want my pudding?"

Cassie and Nathan exchanged a questioning look.

"What?" Isaac asked. "I'm not hungry and it cost me five dollars so can someone eat it please?"

"I've already eaten, thanks." Nathan said, taking his bag. "See you guys later."

After Nathan leaved, Isaac turned to Cassie. He took her hand and put the pudding in it. "I know you didn't eat this morning."

"Aw that's sweet." Cassie smiled.

"Don't dream too much, blondie. It's just for the five dollars." Isaac said, giving her a wry smile. "It's not like i care about you or something."

She rolled her eyes, grinning. "Anyway. It's not that i don't like you...well, sort of-"

"It works both ways, blondie." Isaac said.

Cassie signed, desperate for Isaac. "I have to go. See you later, dickhead."

"Yeah. And don't forget 3:30 or you will be walking home!" Isaac warned her as she walked away.

"I know!" Cassie yelled back, leaving the cafeteria.

Classes went by even slower than usual for Cassie. But fortunately, the bell signaling the end of classes finally rang. She grabbed all her things and left her classroom quickly. Cassie looked at her phone as she walked down the hall. As she was going through the exit door, Isaac came from behind her and passed at the same time as her, forcing Cassie to bump into him.

Her phone fell to the ground. Cassie glared at Isaac. "What the fuck is your problem ?!"

"My problem? You're the one who bump into me." Isaac laughed as he ran his hand through his hair. "I wonder if you didn't do it on purpose, Cass."

"Whatever." She bent down to retrieve her phone, but Isaac did so first.

He looked at her wallpaper and grin. "Is that you and your mom?"

"No shit, Sherlock. Give me that back." Cassie said as she took her phone back.

Isaac laughed as Cassie rolled her eyes. She pushed him out of her way and walked toward the Walters' car, Isaac followed by. Alex got out of the car and Isaac got in. Cassie was about to got in too, but stopped and looked at Alex. "Are you okay?"

He looked at her, surprised. "Uh yeah, i'm fine."

She nodded, knowing full well he was lying. Cassie got in the car and decided sit with Alex as Nathan got in the back with Lee and Isaac.

"Where's Jackie?" Nathan asked.

"Whatever." Cole said as he started the car.

Jackie came out the school just as the Walters and Cassie left the parking lot. "Wait!"

But Cole didn't stop the car. Cassie looked at Jackie through the window before turning to Cole. "Seriously?"

"She needs to learn to be on time." Cole said, not giving a single look at Cassie.

The girl sighed and crossed her arms, annoyed.  Isaac looked at her from the back of the car. He smiled before laying over the seat in front of him and sat between Cassie and Alex. Isaac stared at her with a grin and Cassie frowned as she looked at him. She rolled her eyes and looked out the window.

When they arrived home, Cassie got out of the car without even glancing at the boys. She didn't like the fact that they didn't wait for Jackie, knowing that she had just moved in and didn't know the surroundings.

Cassie entered the house and headed straight to the stairs. She went to her room and slammed the door before falling onto her bed. She looked at the ceilling. "And I thought Isaac was the only idiot in this family..."

Suddenly, Cassie heard a knock on her bedroom door. "Hey, Cassie. It's me...Nathan."

The girl smiled to herself. "Yeah, I know who you are Nathan. Come in."

Nathan entered smiling shyly. "Cool."

He closed the door behind it and sat down on Jackie's bed. "I'm sorry...for Cole. He's kind of..."

"An asshole ? Yeah, i saw that." Cassie said, making Nathan smile.

There was a silence. Nathan noticed that Cassie was shaking her leg, something she did when she was nervous.

"Everything is fine ?" Nathan asked giving her a worried look.

Cassie looked at him, surprised by the question. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"

"I don't know, you look like you're in thought." Nathan said. "Look, I know it's not easy going from a quiet life in a small house with just your mom to...a house full of kids moving around."

Cassie and Nathan laughed lightly.

"But uh, I'm here for you." Nathan finally said. "I mean, if you need to talk and all."

Cassie smiled. "Thanks, Nate."

He smiled and stood up. Before he leaved, Cassie called him. "Hey, Nate. I got your back too, you know that, right?"

"Of course." Nathan said, smiling.

He leaved Cassie's room. Cassie lay back in her bed and stared at the ceiling. After a few minutes, she closed her eyes and focused on the background noises. She could hear Isaac, Cole and Danny yelling in the living room watching a game. She could also hear Nathan playing guitar in his room. And with that she fell asleep.
