A ringtone rang through her quiet room, Cora was still in a deep slumber. When she heard the ring she immediately got up and picked up the phone. Without looking who called her she greeted the person on the other line. "GIRLIE, YOU COMING TO SHOP WITH ME," she said, more like a command. This startled the brunette and she opened up. "Deborah, I know you're excited because apparently the boss "is hot", but come on! That's a lot of excitement for someone at this time," she made air quotes with one hand.
"I don't care, you're coming right now!" she shouted through the phone. "How about you come to my house? I'll get ready by the time?" "Perfect," she squealed through the other line.
Cora was now sitting at the edge of her bed, stretching her arms high in the air before reaching out for her favorite purple bathrobe. She slid her feet into a pair of fluffy slippers and padded into the bathroom, turning on the faucet to start the water running in the shower.
As the water heated up, Cora grabbed her toothbrush and toothpaste, giving them a quick scrub to clean away any morning buildup. She washed her face, applying cleanser and toner before finishing up with a swipe of moisturizer. She turned to grab a hair tie and quickly pulled her blonde locks into a messy bun, her cheeks flush from just waking up.
Finally, Cora walked over to her closet and began flipping through her clothes. Today was a shopping day, and she really needed a dress which would impress everyone as she is the one giving a speech. She decided on a pair of comfortable jeans, a loose-fitting top, and a light sweater in case she needed it. As she dressed, she smiled to herself, feeling excited for the day ahead.
"O. M. G, there is no way you didn't click a pic with him!" she shouted in a quiet tone. They were currently in a car and talking about the incident that happened to Cora in the night. "I feel so stupid! He did give me his number though," she chuckled. "Okay give me his number, sugar! Imma play matchmaker," she winked at you and you rolled your eyes. "Eyes on the road, missy," she pointed out as Deborah scoffed playfully and turned to the road.
They stopped at the parking spot and got out of the car. As Cora walked into the department store with Deborah, she couldn't help but feel slightly anxious about the upcoming company party. The new CEO, a successful heir of the now CEO, was set to join the team, and the company was throwing a grand welcome party.
Deborah, her best friend and closest coworker, immediately sensed her worries and took her by the hand, leading her towards the women's clothing section. "Don't worry, Cora, we'll find the perfect dress for you to stun everyone at the party," she promised, her voice soothing.
The two women began to browse the racks of dresses, each one more glamorous and eye-catching than the next. Cora had never been much of a fashionista, but even she could tell that she and Deborah were in for a treat.
Hour after hour, they tried on dress after dress, each one stunning in its own way. Cora could hardly contain her excitement as they held up a gorgeous green silk gown; it was the most beautiful dress she had ever seen.
"I have to have it!" she exclaimed, turning to Deborah, who smiled back at her with the confidence of a professional shopper.
As Cora happily showed off her stunning green silk dress, Deborah couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy that she hadn't yet found a dress of her own. But she was glad to see her best friend so excited and confident, and she knew she had to find herself a dress too.
The two women made their way back to the racks of dresses, and Deborah began to rummage through the hangers, running her fingers over the material of each dress. She wanted something that was both sophisticated and stylish, but still felt comfortable enough to wear for the whole evening.
After trying on what felt like dozens of dresses, she Finally found it - a simple black dress that wrapped around her body like a second skin. It had elegant sheer sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, and a delicate lace detail at the neck that she knew would make the dress stand out.
Deborah couldn't contain her excitement as she slipped the dress over her head and looked in the mirror. She turned to Cora with shining eyes, knowing that together they would make a stunning pair at the party. "This is the one," she said, feeling grateful for her best friend's support even in the smallest of moments.
Together, the two women made their way to the checkout counter, Deborah handling the paperwork while Cora held on tight to the dress of her dreams and Deborah's dress as well. The shopping experience had been both exhausting and exhilarating, but Cora knew that the dress would make her stand out at the party, and give her the confidence she needed to make a good impression on the new CEO.
Once they finished their shopping trip, Cora and Deborah were both feeling quite hungry, not to mention exhausted from all the trying on, and walking around. They decided to grab a quick bite outside before heading back to the office to finish up work for the day.
The two friends walked down the busy sidewalk, looking for a casual spot where they could enjoy their meal in peace. Finally, they spotted a small coffee shop with some tables outside, and decided to give it a try.
As they walked up to the coffee shop, they were struck by how cozy it looked inside. The decor was rustic and inviting, with hardwood floors and exposed brick walls. The air was filled with the aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries.
They sat down at one of the outdoor tables, and a friendly waitress quickly came over to take their order. While they were waiting for their food, Deborah struck up a conversation with two women sitting at the table next to them. They talked about the warm weather and their plans for the weekend, and Cora couldn't help but be grateful for the ease of connecting with people. It just went to show that a little bit of conversation could go a long way in making a new friend or making someone's day.
Eventually, their food arrived, and they dug in with gusto. The food was simple but hearty, and they both found that they were quite satisfied with their meal, despite the early start to their day.
As they finished up, they thanked the waitress for her quick and friendly service, then headed back to the office, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated for the rest of the day's tasks.
