"What." His voice comes out flat, his effort to comfort me was nowhere to be seen as he takes a noticeable step back. "Killed who..?" He demands, his knuckles turning white as he clenches his hands into tight fists.

"I'm sorry...please...I..." I try to catch my breath, feeling myself enter some sort of hyperventilating state.

Everything around me goes blurry.

Until I feel nothing.

False whispers of confession

"Mama please wake up!" A faint whisper enters my ears as I feel myself slowly coming back to my senses. A warm blanket clung onto my body, as well as a thumb caressing my wrist.

"My head.." I mumer to myself, look up to meet Wilbur's cold stare, he was analysing me..it was almost scary to see him so serious. His eyes bleed into mine before I look away, noticing my daughter was sleeping by my side under the blanket, hugging my arm. "Wil-"

"Save it." He replies, standing up to loom over me. "Why the fuck did you admit to killing someone before passing out?" His voice is shaky, my eyes wandering to his fingers which were twitching a bit. "I need you to be honest with me, please....I'm scared, I'm thinking things I shouldn't be thinking." The distant tone was now replaced with something much more vulnerable.

"I...." My mind was still foggy, trying to recall what I had even said to him before blacking out.

"Please, I'm literally...I...I'm already so ruined, I know Tallulah's gone...I know I can't get her back but...who did you kill...you didn't.. kill her...did...did you?"

"N-no no no, of course not!" I was hoping my immediate reply would be convincing because what the hell? He thinks I killed that little bundle of innocence and joy? Is he fucking insane?

"This doesn't put you in a clear spot, my dear, you still killed someone." He laughs, he fucking laughed. Not a normal type of laugh, the kind of laugh you would hear from a person who has lost their mind.

I close my eyes, trying to remember what I did, I knew I did something wrong I couldn't remember what it is. He shakes my arm, forcing me out of my thoughts.

"Answer me." He whispers, his eyes meeting mine, hands slowly drifting up and down my arm.

"Flippa."

"What?"

"I killed Flippa."

An eery silence comes between us, we stare at one another.

"Charlie's kid?" He sounds as if he was trying to care, the loss of Tallulah was still his top thought, I dont blame him. I send him a weak nod, ashamed to even meet his eyes. "You fucking murdered a kid?"

"I know..I know it sounds bad but.."

"Oh you think this is just bad? You shouldn't be allowed to even go near Poppy." He was about to start yelling Batshit crazy things but my daughter shifts uncomfortably in her sleep the moment her name was mentioned.

"You are not taking her away from me." I hug the little dragon close, hugging her head close to my chest as my fingers comb through her messy hair.

"What was it like, you freak. Did you enjoy watching the life disappear from the kid's eyes? What kind of parent are y-"

"IT'S YOUR FUCKING FAULT TALLULAH IS DEAD."

Poppy shot up, clinging onto my arm, her eyes searching the room to find the source of the loud noise that startled her awake, not knowing it was me.

The colour from wilbur's face had drained, an empty shell staring back at me now.

"This...this isn't funny, you can't...you can't just...say shit like that." His eyes searching through mine, but not for comfort this time. He looked like he was trying to figure out if I brought that up out of spite.

Wait. Shit shit shit, I just said that to him? I told him, I finally told him..in front of Poppy.

Poppy had already moved away from me, now standing off to the side as she watches me and Wilbur with a tense gaze.

"Come on...you're lying...she..its not my fault she's dead..you..you killed her didnt you...you killed my lulah..you.." At each spoken word, he slowly stands up, hate in his eyes.

"Papa Wilbur what are you doing?" Poppy rushes over but Wilbur shoves her out of the way, causing the little dragon to tumble and hit her head on the oak floor.

"You killed her, didn't you? Or maybe you're lying..no you are lying." He murmers to himself, looking right at me. My eyes dart to my daughter, she we crying quietly on the floor, causing me to let out a quiet exhale as I stand up.

"Poppy." I whisper her name, rushing over and before I knew it Wilbur starts to kick the dragon over and over again.

"This is what you get, you hurt my flower and now I'll kill yours right in-fucking-front of you!"

I freeze up.
