CHERRY HAD BARELY GOTTEN AWAY FROM THEO WHEN SHE'D BEEN CORNERED AGAIN!
She was side by side with Percy, who was leading her towards the Poseidon cabin. He'd seen her from his window and stepped outside.
"So you're really not coming?" He asked, walking so close that he was almost touching her.
"I shouldn't." She said, watching the twinkling of the stars above them.
"You went on the other quests."
"I wasn't supposed to."
"But you did. Why not this one? For old time's sake."
"I really can't."
He felt a frown on his face, as he led her up the porch of the Poseidon cabin. "Will you just stay until I go to sleep, then? If I go mad in there, I wanna have at least talked to you before you left."
She tried to smile at him, but his words were more impactful than he knew. How could he just joke about that?
Why was throwing himself at every sign of danger normal?
It wasn't fair. She didn't want to do this anymore, any of this. She didn't want to see him become the child of the prophecy.
It was him or Nico and Percy had already made the decision.
Cherry wanted to hide away forever, to become forgotten and let her existence come to a peaceful ending. That was the only way to get rid of all of this.
It was torture for her to simply witness it. How did it feel for them, then?
She was quiet as she entered the Poseidon cabin. As beautiful as the space was, all she could think of was that in mere hours, Percy would be shivering from a nightmare in front of the shattered fountain.
Percy flopped back onto his sheets, while the redhead sat at the edge of his bed, listening to Tyson's snores.
She looked towards the blond, letting herself fall into her spiral of thoughts.
Part of her enjoyed feeling bad. It was better than shoving it away, but at that point, her feelings were consuming her whole.
"You're staring." Percy cleared his throat. "But who can blame you when I look like this?"
"Like you got hit by a dump truck?" Cherry assumed. "I'm looking because I'm concerned."
