Author's note: Hey guys 🗣️‼️ It's my annual return to Wattpad. I would like to specifically thank @samluvszenitsu for commenting so often that I'm reminded of this story. The #1 fan award definitely goes to you 😭. I'm not sure how when or how long my next hiatus will be, so I'm sorry for how unscheduled these chapters are. (I recommend rereading the last chapter to refresh your memory).
Part 8: Sidewalk Talk

The day went on, Y/N and Zenitsu enjoying the rest of their classes together. Though, all that was currently on Y/N's mind was the upcoming Friday. She would be sure as soon as she got home to go over all her chemistry notes so far in order to truly be able to help Zenitsu. That is, if she could focus long enough on actually helping  rather than just enjoying her time with her crush.

As the school day came to a close, Y/N and her friend group said a goodbye to Tanjiro and his. The trio began their walks home together. Y/N shot a quick look at Kanao, a look that said "I need to talk to you about the thing." Kanao shared the look, while Aoi chose to ignore their glances towards each other.

"So, ladies, we're almost done with the first week of our highschool years. How are we feeling?" Aoi spoke, trying to break the somewhat odd tension in the air. Kanao remained silent, leaving Y/N to do the talking. "Well, to be totally honest, half of my teachers suck! I mean, Mr. Iguro makes us do a quiz at the end of every week! So not cool." Y/N let out the slight rant, though, she wasn't nearly as upset as she was happy to spend time with Zenitsu.

Kanao tugged lightly on Aoi's uniform blazer. "I'm gonna walk Y/N home first, you can go ahead, I'll catch up later." She spoke quietly, her voice gentle and soft. Aoi raised an eyebrow at this sudden change in routine, but decided not to question anything, leaving Kanao and Y/N alone.

Y/N let out a heavy sigh and turned to Kanao with a light blush dusting her cheeks. "I assume you know what this is about?" After receiving a small head nod from Kanao, she continued, "I'm freaking out! Zenitsu needed help with chemistry because he's kinda bad at it, and I'm okay at it, so I offered to help him on Fridays, which is literally tomorrow! And I've been thinking about it all day, so I'm kinda second guessing myself, like what if I'm not smart enough to help-" Y/N's rambling was cut off by Kanao's hand raising, signaling for her to stop talking.

"Y/N, everything will go just fine. I'm sure that Zenitsu will enjoy your company, and your help. You need to take a deep breath. Once you're with him on Friday, I'm positive that all your worries will go away. You two work really well together." Kanao spoke in a reassuring tone. Her words really stuck with Y/N, who still had a soft blush over her face.

Kanao offered a small smile, one that Y/N returned. "Thank you, Kanao." She said as the two reached her doorstep. Kanao sent Y/N a quick wave as she lightly jogged to catch up with Aoi, who didn't get as far down the sidewalk as she thought she would.

(POV we get some Kanao and Aoi time together 😱‼️)

As Kanao caught up, Aoi glanced over in her direction, a questioning smirk on her face. "Was it about her little crush?" She asked, already knowing the answer. Kanao gave no response, only a small finger that was brought up to her lips, signaling that it was a secret.

"She's not very good at keeping secrets, especially when it comes to Zenitsu. The look she gets on her face when he's the topic of conversation makes it so obvious. The same goes for Zenitsu you know? When we were at lunch a couple days ago, he wasn't hiding his feelings for her very well either."

Kanao nodded in agreement, quickly responding. "His face was just as red as hers! I can't wait for those two to realize their own feelings for eachother." Aoi let out a small laugh as they too arrived at her house. "Well, see you tomorrow!" Aoi said, sending a quick and friendly salute, as Kanao waved goodbye as well.

(Whaaaat? The boys' perspective?? That's cray cray!)

Back at the school, Tanjiro decided that he, Inosuke, and Zenitsu should start walking back home together as well, as a way of friendly bonding. (He was clearly inspired by the girls and wanted to share the same thing with his friends). Inosuke wasn't very fond of the idea, and Zenitsu didn't care either way. Nezuko had tagged along, by request of Tanjiro.Their walk ended up being Inosuke and Zenitsu arguing most of the time about whether tempura or salmon balls were better, with Tanjiro square in the middle.

"C'mon guys, do we really have to have such a big argument about food?? Food is good no matter what it is!" Tanjiro spoke, worry lacing his tone. The other two boys continued to bicker and argue, leaving Tanjiro's words to dissolve into the madness. His eyebrows furrowed and annoyance at the two.

"Could you just drop it already?! This was supposed to be for us to all have a good time together! I mean seriously guys, just look at Nezuko! You're making her upset!" Tanjiro's words couldn't be further from the truth, as Nezuko was in her own little world, bread in mouth without a care in the world.
