The nightclub is more crowded than usual. Classes are officially over due to the holidays, and all the students come to party, cry about their bad grades, and relieve themselves of everything.

Alex has been a bit distant since he found me at his house without authorization. Since I thought he was mad, I waited until he told me his group of friends were going out, and I didn't go to his house unannounced.

When I got his message and he said he would pick me up at home, I couldn't help but get excited. I needed a little distraction.

I rushed home after school, explaining myself to Jora and the guys, who wanted to go see a movie in the evening.

I waited for Alex outside the house for about thirty minutes, not because he was late but because I couldn't bear to be inside any longer.

When I see him show up, I smile at him. He's wearing fancy white pants and an olive-green t-shirt.

He explained to me that his friends wanted to go to another nightclub, which has a little more formal etiquette.

I had to rummage through my closet to find something that I felt was minimally appropriate.

I couldn't afford to buy something new, but I think I managed to get as close as I could.

Seeing Alex's gaze on me, I almost couldn't stand the look of pride.

"Do you want to try?" Alex hands me his drink, it comes in a different glass, a cocktail.

The taste is different; it's not as bitter as I had tasted before; it's sweet; and it doesn't even seem to contain alcohol.

I nod, and the guy smiles before ordering a drink for me.

I notice the look of a guy talking to Mosi, he is quite tall, not as tall as Alex, but I would have to look up to look at him. I smiled back at him.

I grab the drink and drink it as fast as I can, so that the effect starts to take the discomfort out of my body.

The music moves through my body. Although memories of a couple of years ago wanted to invade me, I reminded myself that I'm not at home dancing with mom; I'm not in the living room with the music blaring, screaming and laughing like we always did after school; no, I'm in a nightclub, so far away from home that it still didn't feel like enough.

There was no air there, but here, with all the sweaty bodies around me, the alcohol in my system, and the music, I could breathe better than ever.

A hand on my hip accompanied my movements. A guy's lips stamped on my neck, but I felt nothing but the terrible urge to dance.

I turn around and see him, not really seeing him because he's just one of the others dancing. My body moves next to his, as desperate as mine to find salvation across the dance floor.

I walk over to the bar and order one more drink. The guy on the dance floor grabs my waist and hugs me from behind. I turned around to see him. The guy smiles and brings his face close to mine, but I stop him.

I sigh, guiding his lips to my neck, where he loses himself as he presses his body against mine.

I look around, feeling a glance.

Alex's black eyes are on me. His hands are on a brunette girl's waist, her lips on his neck, and she is trying to hold on as best she can as her legs wobble.
