Shreyas (in a random bad mood): Virat bhaiya always has time for everyone! It's you who is ignorant, boring, indifferent and BAD!

Rohit: ...Um, okay...

Shreyas: DO SOMETHING TO PROVE ME WRONG

Rohit (exasperated): What do you want?

Shreyas: If we get them out...after their first innings is over, you need to do some special celebration with me...like... (explains the step) AND I SHOULD SEE THAT YOU ARE INITIATING IT

Rohit: Yup! (thanks his stars that Sammy is not a brat like this one every day)

<SA gets all out for 55>

<Rohit obliges with the celebration step. Shreyas smiles>

<Virat looks back with suspicious eyes to see what nonsense they planned and didn't include him>

<Rohit sees Shubman and Yashasvi looking at him and Shreyas and goes and pats each of them like a grandfather>

Shreyas: Patting everyone wasn't part of my step

Shreyas: But FINE (stomps off)

<Rohit, nearly tearing his hair, looks at Virat>

<Virat stomps off>

<Near the end of the day's play>

Virat: Shubi

Shubman (immediately): YES VIRAT BHAI

Virat: Won't you want to do something with me?

Shubman: Something like?

Virat: Something like ringa-ringa-roses?

Shubman (visibly confused but it's Virat bhai): YESS LET'S GO

<And they play ringa-ringa-roses>

<Virat side-eyes Ro>

<Rohit looks up at the sky>

India vs SA, 2nd Test, 2023, after Shreyas hits the winning 4

<Rohit shouting slangs into air and into Shreyas' hug>

<Shreyas remembers the last time he'd seen Rohit bhaiya like this...

On TV...

With Ajju bhai leaning onto him, after Rishabh's winning 4 in Gabba>

<And Shreyas remembers the World Cup final loss as they break the hug>

Rohit: I guess I ticked one thing off your checklist. Finished a Test match together

Rohit: South Africa and Cape Town are bonuses, aren't they?

<Shreyas side-hugs Rohit again, and immediately, and turns away>

Rohit: Yas?

 <Shreyas, who had not cried a single time since the final loss, goes off the field half in tears and is full-blown sobbing by the end of the Presentation ceremony for the final loss...

Everyone's worried because no one knows what he's crying for today, because Shreyas won't say anything--he won't remind the others of the final--and even Shreyas, possibly, doesn't know why his dam had broken free today.>

<Today, after a month and a half, Rohit bhaiya has smiled without a tinge of sadness in his eyes.>

Interviewer (indicating at Jassi): You must look up a lot to your partner in bowling...

Siraj: <spends two minutes heaping praise on Jassi>

Jassi (the translator): <summarizes the whole thing in two sentences with minimum credit on himself>

Jassi (ending with): And my experiences helps him sometimes...

<Hardik thrilled to bits at Siraj getting Jassi awkward on camera with praise, because normally that's his job>

Hardik (excitedly texting): Proud of you, Miya

Hardik: See how humble

Hardik: Down to earth

Hardik and Siraj: JASPRIT BUMRAH...LEGEND!

***Snippet 16***

India vs SA, 2nd Test, Cape Town, 

<Rahul drops a catch of Markhram off Jassi>

<Jassi covers his face with his hands to hide his disappointment>

<Rahul looking as terrible as he feels anyway>

Virat (quickly): Never mind, Moi

<After Rohit takes Markhram's catch>

Virat (patting Rahul with a huge grin): Congrats, keeper

Rahul (in a lousy mood, though getting better at the wicket): Get lost

<Virat looks at Shubman>

Shubman (jumping over to offer Rahul a handshake): Congrats, Rahul bhai!

Rahul (refusing the handshake with a sour look): That's enough, Shubi (glares at Virat)

<At lunch, Rahul still sitting quieter than normal>

<Virat slipping up to him silently>

Virat (kissing the top of Rahul's head): Get out of here

<Virat goes away before Rahul could say anything

...Or before he can see the look in Rahul's eyes, too>

A/N: The last bit refers to how Rahuliya often speaks of how he's sometimes unable to "get out of his head" (which is basically him admitting to be an overthinker)

I am so thrilled by today's match I can't sit still. Overseas Test victories in SENA are always so, so special.
