Chapter one
~ Ever had that feeling when you know you're being watched but when you turn around you don't feel it anymore? If you do, that's how I'm feeling now.
Hi, my name's Kat Morin. I just moved into Alabama from a small town in Tennessee just a few weeks ago. I was furious when I heard we were moving to another house.
[First Week; Moving/Packing Week]
"But I don't wanna move! I love it here! Don't you understand?" I cried out and stopped halfway down the stairs.
"Sweetpea, please calm down and listen." My mother stopped halfway out and in the front door, carrying a box of her belongings.
"Your father really needs this job Kat. Just be happy we're finally moving out of this wretched house!" With that, she continued to walk.
That wasn't the point though. I wasn't complaining about the house. I was complaining about leaving my friends behind and I don't want to go and meet new people.
"Do you know how hard it is to find new friends?" I yelled from the stairs, gripping the railing.
"Why? Why does he have to have a damn job now? When he never really cared for a job! I mean...just UGH! WHY ME?"
"Hey!" A low voice called out and my dad walked in from the kitchen, smoking a cigarette. I remembered myself to mark down that he broke his promise of not smoking. 'Lying Bastard' I thought as I stomped up the stairs.
"Will you stop yelling for once and shut up? Now, help us pack! We move out Tomorrow." He said glaring up at me, hitting the butt of his cigarette, making the long line of ashes fall to the floor.
Stopping, I slowly turned to him, my hands curled into fists annoyed. I had enough.
"Excuse me? You do NOT order me around! You may be my father but I will not take orders from you!"
"And another thing. GO PACK YOUR OWN FUCKING CLOTHES AND LEAVE ME AND MOM HERE. I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" I screamed on the top of my lungs, which caused my mom to run inside the house, panicked.
"What is happening here? Why is there so much yelling?" She turned glaring over at me then at my dad with hands on her hips.Neither of us spoke, just glaring at each other. 'If only looks could kill...if only'
"What are y'all yelling on about?" She repeated looking up at me, her eyes showing anger and fear. Whatever.
I stood there leaning on my side, my arms crossed over my chest. I knew things were going to get worse right when I said "I ain't leaving and you cant make me."《Few Hours Later》
Laying my head against the car window I saw buildings, stores, and farmlands pass by in a blur; sighing I moved away from the car window, looking over at my dad who was driving, then at my mom who was doing something on her phone.
Annoyed, I bit into the duct tape around my wrist with all my might but it wouldn't rip. 'The Hell?' Right when I was about to ask what type of tape this was I saw something that caught my eye. A sign, that read "Leaving Tennessee." and at the bottom it said "Come back soon!"
My heart sank, feeling a lump on my throat. I began squirming and got on my knees leaning against the seat, peeking over the back of the car window, watching the sign get smaller and smaller as we drove farther away.
"Can you sit down? You moving around around is getting on my nerves.", protested my dad. Turning my head I stared at him through the rear review mirror in utter hatred.
"Shut up old man, How long do you plan on keeping me tied up anyways?" I held up my wrists to him to see, "I feel as if you just kidnapped me and trying to sell me to your old ass boss."I knew that must of pissed him off because the sped up as he gripped the stearing wheel.
"After what you tried to pull just right when we got in the highway? Not a chance, but no matter you're not going to grab the wheel from me again." He said as he slowed down the car and stopped at a gas station, getting out walking to the register to pay.
"I was was having a weird muscle spasm..." I mumbled, slumping into the car seat. It only earned a giggle from my mom who was sitting sideways in the passenger seat, looking over at me.
"You always were a trouble maker Kat... always doing things to stop us, but please sweetie give Alabama and our new home a chance. For me and your Fath-"
"NO! No way! Not a fucking chance!" I yelled sitting up straight on my seat now completely agitated.
"Okay, okay.. uhm just me then. Only me not your father" She smiled softly, her voice soft as silk which somewhat calmed me down a tad. I knew deep down inside that she didn't want to leave and it was hard for her just as much it is for me. It's not as if she had a choice...Dad would of hit her if she refused. The only thing that kept him from hurting her was me and I knew it.
"A-alright mom..I'll try, just for you." Her smile widden as she nodded. A few minutes later Dad came back in the car, turned it on, pulled the lever and began to drive back onto the never ending highway.
Looking out the window once again, I noticed the sky was dark blue with a pinch of purple. 'It's gonna get dark soon...' I thought to myself as I slumped back into the seat; I closed my eyes. 'Get ready Alabama Satan's coming on your way.'
