Forget it (Sontails)

Chapter 1

      Here it goes again. I can just feel it. My arm is broken, my tail is broken, and I can't breathe. Really? Is this how I'm going to die this time? Drowning in the deep water with no way to swim up? I guess...I guess this is fine. This is way better than getting cut to shreds by my own aircraft.

I close my eyes. Just wait Tails, it will all be over soon, then you'll be with Sonic like nothing ever happened...like usual. I knew the time of my death was close. I can feel all my senses fading away until I feel a sudden breath of air.  I was able to breathe again. I slowly open my eyes to see a familiar face.  

"K-knuckles?"

knuckles looks down at me then swims to shore. "Yes, it's me, we were all worried."

"You guys were worried? Worried about me?"

This was very surprising. They never worry about me. They never even cared. This was going to be the thirty-fifth time I have died and now they think about me?....If only they knew.

I coughed a bit, now being carried by knuckles bridal-style. "How did you know I was there? How did you know I was drowning?" 

"How did I-? You're being a real idiot you know. You're tornado crashed into the water, we all saw it."

Knuckles came to save me, I could have had another death but Knuckles saved me. "Where is everyone else?" I asked eagerly, expecting that they were looking for me as well. "Sonic told me to go get you since he can't swim. He trusts me enough with his own partner that he even went back to Chris's house."

Huh. Couldn't care less. I should have known not to get my hopes up like that.  Especially with Sonic. Why did I even think that he would be here.

"Oh really?"

My head springs up. It was Sonic. "Did you really think I would trust you with my best friend?" He scoffs at Knuckles and walks towards me. "I'm glad you're okay buddy, I couldn't just wait around to see if you were okay or not. I had to be here just in case, even if it means drowning on the way."

I couldn't help but smile. I can't believe it, Sonic actually cares. Knuckles attempts to put me down on my feet, but I immediately wobble in place. With one of my tails broken it was hard to keep balance. Sonic quickly grabs me by the waist and looks down at me, "You feeling okay?" 

I feel myself getting hot, "Y-Yeah, I just injured myself during the crash. That was the only reason why I couldn't help myself and swim back up." Knuckles crosses his arms, "Just? Tails, don't you know how bad that could be? Where are you injured?"

I point to my left tail and right arm. "I broke them with the impact of the water, hehe." Sonic sighs. "What are we going to do with you? You act like this is nothing. You could have died!"

Oh.

I can feel my smile fade away. I almost forgot my life is messed up. Dying is normal to me, getting torn to pieces is normal. I can't believe I almost forgot. I smile again, I even chuckle a little, "Haha, heh, yeah you're right Sonic...I could have died." I put my arms around his neck and started crying. "S-Sonic! I could have died!"

The face that I saw Sonic make was unexplainable. He looked slightly confused, or freaked out a little...I don't know. "Uh-It's okay bud, lets go back home and see if Chris or Chuck can help you out with those broken bones. " He wiped away my tears and picked me up, running full speed to Chris's.

I kind of felt bad for knuckles though. I know he likes working by himself, but to just leave him in the dust like that? Wow. What a way to thank someone who saved your life. 

That was weird though. I didn't mean to act like that. Why did I laugh and then cry so unexpectedly? That was something new. It just happened, it felt natural.

"We're here Tails." Sonic puts me down and helps me walk to the house. "Amy! Chris! I have Tails!" I can hear everyone's footsteps coming louder towards me. I chuckle silently, giving awkward looks at Sonic. "Tails! Oh! We were so worried!" Amy yelled giving me a tight hug.

I yelp, jerking back with tears swelled up in the corner of my eyes. "Be a little more gentle...please?" I asked a little embarrassed. Chris comes over and examines me. "Tails, is something wrong? You look, well, umm, a little crooked."

"Ahaha, I umm...Tell em Sonic!" Sonic rolls his eyes and explains how I was about to drown and my injuries. "Ahh! Sonic we need to bring Tails to the hospital if he has broken bones!" Yells Chris with his usual panic. "But we can't. You know how it went when I wanted to go on a shopping spree, no one would leave us alone! Not to mention, this could get on the news and show Eggman an opening of attack!" Amy said. "She's right. Is there anything else we can do to help Tails heal?" Sonic asks. 

Chris rubs his head,  "We can umm...My Grandpa can probably help, he might find something to help Tails."

"That's great!" Sonic sprints away and immediately  comes back with bandages and ice. "I don't know what to do with this, but you can give it a try." Sonic says giving the supply to Chris.

Chris put the ice on my arm and wrapped the bandages around it. "How is this going to help my bone heal? This would only slow down the swelling." I say looking at Chris struggling to put ice on my tail. "This is why..I wanted...to go to the...hospital!" Chris yells, giving up with the wrapped bandages. Sighing I get rid of the bandages with my teeth. 

"What are you doing buddy?" Sonic asks while I grab my arm. 

"I'm putting it back into place."

"You're what!?"

I snap my arm in the opposite direction of how it broke. I felt the sting of it, but for some reason it felt pleasant. Amy shook me, "Are you crazy? That hurt me to watch that! Don't do that agai-"

I snap my tail back and squint a little. "Sorry Amy. Can you give me the ice and bandages? Amy cringed at the look of pain on my face but gladly gave me the supply.

After I wrapped myself, I wobbled out of their way and laid on the couch. Even as bad as it hurt, I weirdly wanted more of it. What am I thinking? I live in enough pain already, why wish for more?

Cream and Cheese walk into the living room. "Tails can you scoot over? Our favorite show is about to be on." I stood up, not wanting to see their show and attempted to leave the room. "Tails! Watch t.v with us!" I sigh and lean on the back of the couch. "Fine."

Cream and Cheese enjoy their show until and little static emerged on the t.v. Eggman was shwoing on the screen. "Ahhhh!" Cream yelled hugging her choa.

"Hoohoohoo! I hope you enjoy my show because today is another attempt Sonic! I don't know how, but your fox flying friend is really a survivor. I can't even calculate how he survives each day! I tried to keep a low profile on the 'trying to kill Sonic's sidekick' but it is literally impossible to kill your friend! So, I'll give you a choice Sonic, hand over the fox or I will kill Knuckles and destroy the city! I already planted bombs and kidnapped your friend! So what is it Sonic? The fox, or another friend with the city? HoooHoooHoo!"

The t.v turns off and Cream's show plays again.
