I skipped in glee across the meadow. "Isn't this wonderful?" I asked. I loved the smell of all the flowers. I turn around but he's gone. I think he's playing tricks on me. "+#(_-#)!#??" I ask with a smile. "Yes...?" I hear in a low demon like voice, I turn around and-
"So, today we will be discussing how you want to distribute this group into parts. And when you will work outside of class because we don't have enough class time to do all of this work. But also be discussing what you do want to do in class. And be aware, you will have to have interviews, and other things like that on this project. If you have any questions, please feel free to come up and ask me. You may now work."
Charlotte takes her seat next to me and Cory sits behind me again next to Charles.
"So, I think we should meet up in the cafe near the library after school today to look more into Lucy's death!" Charlotte proposes.
"Sure sweetheart, I'm down!" Charles winks at her and she rolls her eyes once again.
"What about you Cory..?" I ask softly.
He just nods his head and continues looking down.
"I can" I say
"Well then it's settled!" She claps her hands.
Later in the afternoon.
I sit in the booth with my coffee waiting for everybody else.
The first person to show up is Cory, then Charlotte and Charles.
I move my coffee to the side and stare down.
"So, I think we should get to work!" Charlotte exclaims.
I bring out my laptop from my bag and so does everybody else, Cory on the otherhand just stares.
"Is...is everything okay?" I whisper.
"Uhm... Yea... I just... Don't have my own personal laptop... And I didn't think we were bringing any... So I just brought my backpack with a notebook, a pen, and other things for writing and drawing and stuff..." He whispers back.
"Well, maybe you can be our note taker!" I exclaim softly.
"I don't mean to burst your bubble, but what's the convo about??" Charles butts in.
"Mind your own business!" Charlotte protests.
"Well, I don't have a laptop... So I'm the note taker.." Cory quietly explains.
"Okay! That's great! I'll show you stuff on mine, and you can find any valuable info that could be used!" Charlotte suggests.
"O-okay!"
He sounds a little bit more confident then before.
We sat there for hours researching and writing down information. Charlotte was struggling a bit and I was doing fine. But surprisingly, Charles was showing Cory his laptop every few minutes or so. He was really acting smart or something because he looked like he actually knew what he was doing.
"I feel like we should all exchange numbers for this." Charlotte groans in agony.
"I'm down for that!" Charles pipes in and brings out a pack of sticky notes. He writes down his number on three and gives us each three.
I write down my number and hand it to them and they do the same. Now we all have our phone numbers. Good.
"C-can we use these f-for emergency p-purposes i-incase we n-need h-help with any r-real life i-i-issues...?" Cory talks out loud, we can all hear him. His stutters splur out like loose change.
"Of course! We'll all always be here in case you need any help!"
"I wouldn't say all of us hotcakes." Charles pipes in.
"Oh. My. GOD! I hate you!" Charlotte almost yells.
I check the time. 6:23.
"We should get going, it's getting late. We should do this again tomorrow, if say it was really successful" I look up from my laptop and put it away. Everybody else does the same except for Cory with his notebook and pen.
"See you guys tomorrow?"
They arrupt in "mhm's" and "totally's!" And nods.
We all get up and head different directions. I make it home and get ready for bed. Everything was fine until my phone started ringing.
I bring out my sticky notes and look at the number compared to everybody else's. It seems to be Cory's. I pick up.
"Hello?"
"please..." He whispers so quietly.
"call the police.."
My eyes are wide
"What's your address!?"
"I'll t-text it to you...just...p-please...h-hurry!"
I hang up the phone. Sure enough, he texts me his address. I write it down on a piece of paper and dial 911.
"911 what's your emergency?"
