Chapter 17

(1 month later)

*JC's POV*

I haven't heard much from Talia. None of us have. I guess that's a good thing, I'm not really sure, but Connor sure hasn't been himself lately. No offence to him, but his videos have sucked lately, but honestly, I can't blame him. I'd be the same way.

Text from: Connor

Hey, I'm in town. I need a favor.

I wonder what he's up to. I texted back:

Sure, what's up?

*Talia's POV*

I paused my iPod that was blaring Lana Del Rey through my head phones. I heard my mom talking to someone. Who was it? Is that.. no, it can't be.

I creept out of my room and listened at the stairs. Yes, I was right. It was JC. What was he doing here?

"Well, it was good talking to you, Mrs. White," JC said.

"It was nice talking to you too, JC. Talia is up in her room. She doesn't come out much. Good luck trying to get her to talk. All she does is sleep," she sighed. I rolled my eyes and quietly and quickly ran back to my room. I heard footsteps coming down the hall.

The door creaked open, "Hey, Tally," I smiled. It had been a while since anyone called me that.

"Hey, JC. What are you doing here?"

"I just came by to check on you," he said nervously.

"What is it?" I said knowingly.

"I have a few errands to run. Would you like to join me?"

"Sure, but you're the one who has to be seen with all this ratchetness," I joked.

"Fine by me," he winked and led me out of my room.

I said a quick goodbye to my mom and followed him to his car.

"How have you been?" I said as I slid in.

"Good. How about you?" He backed out of my driveway.

"Great," I faked a smile.

"Oh, come on, Talia. We both know that that's not true."

I sighed, "I've been terrible. I think this is the biggest mistake I've ever made. But its too late."

"Better late than never," he half smiled.

"Sure, Connor has clearly moved on," I looked out of the window as we drove down the freeway.

"I wouldn't be too sure of that. He was a mess the last time I talked to him."

"Well, I told him I'd never leave him. I lied. Who would want to be with a liar?"

"Shut up, Talia," he sighed as we pulled into Kroger's parking lot. This was the place where I first met Connor.

We walked in, my arm linked through his in a friendly way. I got a shopping cart and pushed it along the aisles JC led me down. We turned down the cereal aisle and I heard a familiar voice slaughtering Justin Bieber's "As Long As You Love Me" from behind me.

"JC, what's going on?" I said, not wanting to turn around.

"I'm under pressure,

seven billion people in the world trying to fit in

Keep it together, smile on your face even though your heart is frowning

But hey now, you know girl,

We both know it's a cruel world

But I will take my chances," the voice sang.
