Memory 1: Moonlark Spotting

Thirteen-year-old Biana Vacker paced in front of her mirror, leafing through her long brown hair to hide the white humanoid earbud in her left ear. Her mind flashed back to the day she had been recruited to the Black Swan.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a year ago ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A twelve-year-old girl sat crying at a fountain. Elves passed by, each briefly glancing at the girl in confusion. What was there to cry about? After all, the girl was Biana Vacker, daughter of the most prestigious family in the Lost Cities.
No one could understand what she was going through.
No one knew of the pain of a perfect family brought.
Perfect looks, perfect grades, perfect fashion. They didn't come naturally, and keeping them... was a huge pain.
One tiny mistake, one little misstep could bring judgment to the family.
Biana knew of the stress because she was suffering under it.
Crystal-clear tears rolled down her perfect face, washing off her makeup and puffing up her teal eyes.
Until someone came, he told her he understood the stress, and told her that she had an opportunity to break free by joining the Black Swan, the most powerful and mysterious rebel agency. Biana agreed immediately, not regretting the decision that let her escape her perfect life.
No one could know.
"Agent Vanish, are you there?" A voice blared from her earbud, interrupting her train of thought.
"Yep, and can you tone the volume down too Tinker?" She begged.
Tinker huffed but did as she asked. "Squall's going to guide you through this?"
"Yep," Biana assured the Technopath. As Tinker clicked away, she heard another voice.
"Agent Vanish, are you in your position?"
"Yes Agent Squall," she answered before shuffling toward the opening door.
Fitz, her father, and a girl her age stepped in. The girl was blonde, her brown eyes flecked with gold. Biana silently gave her approval for the girl's looks.
"Moonlark in," she informed her higher-up.
A tiny click told her all she needed.
She had trained for this mission for months. She couldn't mess this up. Her mind came back to reality as she stepped toward them.
Fitz was flirting with the poor girl, even though she seemed oblivious. Alden, her father, gestured her over, probably to introduce her to Sophie. She knew more about Sophie than her father did. Of course, she would never tell him that since it was all classified.
"Biana, this is Sophie Foster, Sophie, this is Biana." Alden told them.
Biana waved at her, and she waved back, but she seemed nervous.
Alden noticed. "Sophie, it's alright. Biana knows about your... family history."
Nodding, Sophie looked more relaxed.
"Hey Biana, I've heard a lot about you from Fitz," she smiled.
"Good or bad?" Biana teased.
"Both, but don't worry, I didn't believe any of it."
"Agent Vanish, stay on task," Squall reminded her. Biana excused herself after conversing with Sophie for a while.
Forkle was right. Sophie was special, she didn't know it. And it was Biana's job to keep her safe.
Squall's voice interrupted her thoughts... again. "Vanish, the information?"
"Sorry," Biana mumbled. "Blonde, brown eyes with gold flecks, nervous habit is tugging on eyelashes, seemed really nervous, oblivious to my brothers flirting, and super clumsy. Fitz said she tripped over the doorway when she arrived."
There was silence on the other end before Squall came back. "Seems like the Moonlark. Information entered in database successfully and I informed Forkle."
"Great," Biana replied, ready to take out the earbud.
"Wait-"
Her fingers grazed the smooth surface. "Squall? What do you mean?"
"Nothing really. I just wanted to remind you about the meeting tonight."
"I got it," Biana responded.
Squall clicked away, leaving Biana sprawled out on her bed.
Memory 2: Agent Shadow
A beeping sound.
Biana jumped up and went to the end of her closet. She pulled a drawer, lifted the bottom, and retrieved an imparter. Not just any imparter. It was an imparter that could reach Mr. Forkle, the type of person to appear now and then have no point of contact.
"Ms. Vacker," he breathed. "I have some big news for you."
"Yes?" Biana held her breath.
"I'll need you to come right now. Meet me at Windchimes."
"Okay..."
"Good. I am expecting you in exactly 15 minutes."
In one swift motion, Biana took out a leaping crystal, put back the imparter, and secured the drawer. As she raised the crystal in the air, all she was thinking about was Mr. Forkle's news.
Will it be good or bad? She pondered silently, letting the light take her away.
The ground rushed toward her, faster and faster. Before she collided with the rocky soil, she shakily levitated to land gently.
In front of her were stairs, a long spiral staircase. Before she knew it, sweat was streaming down her face as she ascended upwards.
There was one more step.
Biana leaped toward the last step, rewarded with a blast of cool air across her sweating body. Bounding forward, she stepped onto the soft, airy clouds before seeing Windchimes. The building was shaped like a windchime, (what else?) melodious melodies slipping under her skin, calming her thoughts.
Where would the Forklenator hide? She thought.
The top floor.
At least she got up there. The Black Swan seriously needed to make a one-story hideout. As she stepped onto the floor, a dark, cold, icy sensation filled her mind. It was as if a shadow had crossed her thoughts, but it faded a second later. Mr. Forkle waved her over to where he was standing with a tall, dark figure. The person had shadows covering their face, concealing their identity.
Mr. Forkle cleared his throat, "I assume both of you know what this meeting is about?"
