Taylor let out a shaky breath as she swung her legs back and forth against the bed in the doctor's office.
She anxiously played with her fingers as Travis rested his hand on her thigh.
"Can't we just go home?" She whined.
"Not until you get your flu shot," Travis spoke.
Taylor groaned before going quiet.
She listened to the clock on the wall tick for a few moments before she spoke again.
"This is taking too long. They forgot about me. Let's go!" She smiled and tried to get up, only for Travis to shake his head with a smile.
"No, baby. You have to get this. With how much you tour and travel, you can't afford to get sick. If you get the flu, you could be sick for weeks. Then you'll look back and ask yourself why you didn't just push through and get it."
Taylor sighed because she knew he was right, though she didn't want to admit it.
"Whatever." She mumbled as she folded her arms over her chest.
Just a minute later, the door opened, and in walked the nurse.
"It's good to see you, Taylor. How are you today?"
"Fine." She sighed. "Just... terrified."
Travis squeezed her shoulder gently and comfortingly.
"Don't be terrified. It's just a quick needle. In and out, I promise."
Taylor was about to speak when she suddenly felt her terror grow upon seeing the needle as the nurse pulled the cap off of it.
"Oh, god," She groaned.
The nurse came over to her and Travis lifted Taylor's sleeve gently, knowing her fingers were probably too shaky to do so herself.
She jumped as the nurse brushed the wipe across her arm.
"Sorry," Taylor mumbled.
"It's okay. Don't worry, it'll be alright,"
Taylor looked at the needle, only for Travis to gently lift her chin and make her eyes lock with his.
"Don't look at it. Look at me." He softly spoke as he looked into her eyes.
"Can you hold my hand? Please, baby?" She pleaded as she gazed at him anxiously.
Travis smiled before he took her hands into his.
"You don't even have to ask." He said as he kissed her hands softly.
Taylor winced as the needle went into her arm and Travis was quick to comfort her.
"You're doing great. It's almost done." He whispered as he continued to let her squeeze his hands and kept staring into her soft blue eyes.
"And..." The nurse said, dragging the word out slightly. "All done!"
Taylor breathed out a sigh of relief as she watched Travis's eyes light up.
"See? You did it, my love!" He smiled.
She closed her eyes and puckered her lips, expecting a kiss from him for sticking it out despite her intense fear.
He happily kissed her lips and after the nurse put the bandage over the area and then tossed the used needle, Taylor got down.
"See? That wasn't so bad, right?"
"I guess not." She said as he took her hand.
"You're good to go." The nurse grinned.
"Thank you!" Taylor smiled and then walked out with Travis.
"Now we just have to do it over again next year," Travis spoke and Taylor groaned before laying her head on his shoulder.
He chuckled before squeezing her hand reassuringly.
"Don't worry. I'll be here to hold your hand again then, and every shot to come."
She smiled a little in response, knowing she'd be able to overcome her fears to get whatever shots she'd need from here on out, as long as Travis was by her side through it all.
