Ava was a little nervous as she walked toward the high school, she had no reason to be, her and Beatrice were okay now and she was certain of her feelings, and mostly sure they were reciprocated.
She had not been to afternoon pick up in a couple of years, Diego had started walking home with his friends when he started middle school. But today was different, she wasn't going to pick up Diego, she had something else in mind, something very important.
Ava was lost in her thoughts, still trying to find what to say to Beatrice when she almost slammed into Lilith who was standing right in front of her.
"What are you doing here ?"
"Hi Lil," Ava rolled her eyes. Lilith liked her; she knew that but she could at least hide it a little less, "None of your business."
"Don't call me Lil, we've talked about that. Beatrice is in the library by the way."
"How did you- whatever, thanks Lil !" Ava threw a smile over her shoulder as she turned towards the library, not giving the woman enough time to protest, Lil was a cute nickname anyway.
Soon enough she found Beatrice at a table in the back of the library, surrounded by books and seemingly very focused, "Hi !"
Very focused indeed, Beatrice jumped when she heard the voice, but immediately relaxed when she realized it was Ava, "Hi Aves, what are you doing here ?"
"Why is everyone asking me that, am I not allowed to be here ?"
Beatrice laughed, "you're just a bit old for high school, that's it."
Ava rolled her eyes again but this time with a big smile, " well actually, I'm here to see you, do you wanna have dinner tonight ?"
"Of course, yeah."
"No I mean, like not our usual dinner - wow I'm terrible at this - I mean a date Beatrice, do you want to go on a date with me ?"
"Oh - oh yes of course Ava, that sounds really nice."
"Wait, really ?"
"Yes, Ava, really," Beatrice laughed, " were you expecting me to say no ?"
"Well I was hoping that wouldn't happen, but yeah a little bit."
Beatrice extended an arm out and gave Ava a side hug, "we've talked a lot, we've taken our time, and we're good now, so why would I say no ?"
"You're right, you most definitely shouldn't say no."

Diego was doing homework in the kitchen when he heard a loud thud from his sister's room, "Ava ?"
"I'm okay," Ava burst out of her room with a pile of clothes in her arms, "I have nothing to wear !"
"You're holding so many clothes I can't even see you," Diego was laughing, Ava was being ridiculous, she had had dinner with Beatrice hundreds of times before. Apparently it wasn't the same, or so she had informed him, but he didn't really understand what had changed, just because they called it a date didn't mean they were doing anything different from their usual dinners - which might as well have been dates if you asked him.
"I'm just gonna call Cam, okay ? She can take care of it."
But Ava was already back in her room trying on more outfits, she kept asking for Diego's opinion but apparently he had the wrong one every time, and telling his sister that she looked pretty or that he liked her dress was also somehow the wrong thing to say. Hopefully once they started dating Ava would be less annoying, although that was doubtful, Ava was Ava after all, and he absolutely loved her like this. The JC episode had really scared him, but this was the Ava he knew and adored, even if she was starting to annoy him a little right now.
