After Wang Yincheng finished work, he didn't go straight home. Dou Sha and Liu Heng were not around, so he could only write articles or browse the internet by himself. Coincidentally, the weather had gotten hot recently, and Old Liu finally realized that he couldn't afford to get any fatter. He arranged to meet Wang Yincheng and Shao Zhiwen to play basketball at Chen Luofei School.
Wang Yincheng drove, taking the other three men to the school. Old Liu sat in the passenger seat, while Shao Zhiwen and Chen Luofei sat in the back.
Wang Yincheng glanced at the rearview mirror and said, "What are you two doing? Why are you sticking to the doors?" Chen Luofei and Shao Zhiwen were sitting on opposite sides, each leaning against their respective car doors, with a large gap in the middle that could fit a fat person.
Old Liu threw his mouth to the side and turned to look at the two people behind him, saying, "Are you two trying to invite me to sit in the back? Don't stick to the doors! If you happen to roll onto the road, we'll have to stop and find you!"
Shao Zhiwen and Chen Luofei remained silent.
Chen Luofei was still a student, and Shao Zhiwen had just graduated this year. Neither of them had much experience. But when they encountered a basketball, they both easily performed a three-step layup with grace and skill. Old Liu couldn't help but exclaim, "Damn it! Are they taking advantage because I'm not in shape?" He paused, then turned to Wang Yincheng and raised an eyebrow. "No worries, we still have Chengzi to accompany me at the bottom!"
Wang Yincheng unbuttoned the cuff button, rolled up his sleeves, and looked back at Old Liu with a faint spark in his eyes.
Shao Zhiwen threw the ball to Wang Yincheng. With one hand, Wang Yincheng caught the pass and walked to the three-point line. He held the ball with both hands, positioning his forearms and upper arms at a 90-degree angle, aligning his elbow with the direction of the basket, and slightly crouched down with his knees and ankles. Using his lower body strength, he leaped up, exerting force with his wrist and simultaneously using the power from his arms to release the ball. The basketball gracefully arced through the air, without even grazing the rim, and smoothly dropped into the net.
Old Liu was dumbfounded, his jaw almost dropping!
"Wow!" Shao Zhiwen raised his hands and clapped, shouting, "Great shot!"
Chen Luofei, now dressed in sports attire, raised his arm and gave Wang Yincheng a high-five. Old Liu pointed at Wang Yincheng and exclaimed, "Damn! You have hidden talents?! How come I didn't know you were this good at basketball?! And with a three-pointer?"
Wang Yincheng smirked, his lips curling up. It was still bright outside at six o'clock, and as Old Liu looked at Wang Yincheng, something stirred in his heart. Recently, he had noticed that Wang Yincheng seemed to come alive. He was no longer the indifferent and distant person he used to be.
The four of them were playing basketball. Wang Yincheng was paired with Shao Zhiwen, while Old Liu and Chen Luofei were paired together. Wang Yincheng was guarding Old Liu, while Shao Zhiwen and Chen Luofei locked eyes and chests, their competition intensifying.
At first, it was just a friendly match, a casual game of sportsmanship. But somehow, the tension between the four of them escalated.
Old Liu had a competitive spirit and never liked to lose. Wang Yincheng appeared calm on the surface, but he took passing, dribbling, and shooting very seriously. He didn't hold back at all. As for Shao Zhiwen and Chen Luofei, they were filled with boundless enthusiasm, always overflowing with excitement. Once they got fired up, they couldn't contain themselves. They cared about winning and losing in every aspect, from defense to shooting. They were serious and focused, even more so than NBA players.
