Waves crash against the hull of the ship as it moves through the restless sea. The night sky is clear and the moon, accompanied by the stars hangs brightly above. Two young women sit next to each other on the deck. One has silky black hair, and the other has h/c locks. The both of them watch as crew members of the ship sing, dance, and drink in celebration.
Tonight is a special night. Not only are they returning home from a very successful expedition, but tonight just so happens to be the princess's 21st birthday. Princess Erin, future queen of the kingdom of Tydore.
Having grown tired of watching the festivities of her crewmates, The princess gets up from her seat on the deck and walks to the railing of the ship. Preferring to look out at the open waters of the ocean. She leans against the railings of the ship. Her arms cross over her chest and a sad look in her eyes. The darker-haired woman lets out a small dejected sigh.
Taking notice of the conflicted disposition of the princess. You frown. Standing up from your place on the deck, you approach her. "Not feeling in the celebratory mood Princess?" You say jokingly, trying to lighten the mood. She doesn't answer you, seemingly too deep in thought.
You playfully use your elbow to gain her attention by softly bumping her arm. "Is everything okay Princess? You're not in your usually cheerful mood." She finally looks at you with those bright blue eyes. "It's nothing really, just the fact that I'm turning 21 and I have yet to marry or find true love."
You hum as you nod your head. You look away from her and out onto the sea. "True love huh?" you click your tongue. "Is that what's gotten you so down?" She nods her head. "Most women my age are usually married by now. They've already found the one that they want to spend the rest of their lives with and here I am, still single."
You place a s/c hand on her shoulder. Wanting to bring some sort of comfort to her, you take a moment to think about what to say. "You're still young Erin, there's still time and lots of people in the world for you to meet. Who knows, maybe true love is right around the corner."
She sighs, "I think you're right, but I'm not getting any younger. I just wish it would happen sooner." She looks at you with a hopeful stare. Her blue eyes sparkled at you. You didn't have to say much, but she always felt at ease in your presence.
She takes a moment to examine your features. Your skin is a slightly darker shade from your original tone due to the long days spent in the sun. Strands of your h/l h/c hair moved with the wind as the salty ocean breeze blew in.
Erin parts her lips as if to speak, but before she can say anything a crew member rushes over and calls out your name. She shoots the man a nasty glare before removing it from her face, unbeknownst to both you and the man.
