"Wow. So we're victim blaming now?" Maxine glared at Helen.
"I'm not victim blaming! It was everyone's fault, not just hers."
"But Margaret's included in that. That's pretty much the definition of victim blaming."
"Maxine, you told your story and I told mine."
"Actually, it kind of was her fault," Virginia piped up thoughtfully.
Maxine glared at her, her brows furrowing. "Virginia! Seriously!"
"No! Think about it! It was her choice to stay. She chose to do that. What were they supposed to do? Drag her back home by the arms?"
Maxine looked between Virginia and Helen and exhaled through her teeth. "Just go ahead and tell your story." Virginia shot her a look and sniffed dramatically.
