SOPHIE FRAY never thought of her life as complete. Sure, she was way too young to feel like it, as she was barely sixteen. However, she felt as if something was missing in a way she didn't know exactly how to explain. Starting off with her not knowing who her biological parents were.
Jocelyn Fray, a single mother of two, never got into details of her adoption, and to be honest, Sophie never got much into the questions, as she didn't want to make her feel as if she considered her a bad mom or was ungrateful for everything she did for her.
But she wanted to know the truth, and somehow she felt like her mother wasn't telling her everything she knew. Not to talk about how Clary herself, who was the biological daughter of Jocelyn, and Sophie's little sister, didn't know much about her own family.
But that wasn't the only reason why her life felt so empty. Sophie could feel that emptiness following her at every step she made, standing there in the dark, increasing her doubts as day went by.
Whenever she walked through Brooklyn, she felt like there was much more than only what she saw. She didn't know what exactly could be missing -if unicorns, flying people or bigfoots mixed with cats- but something surely did.
And whenever she felt more and more near to finding the truth and discovering what exactly was missing in her life, she somehow went back to the start, as if she were taking one step ahead and five steps backwards.
Little did she know, that what really hid in the city was way more insidious than what she had imagined her whole life.

-This fic might include minor and major characters deaths, mentions of grief, blood, violence, gore, depression, and everything you would find in a normal shadowhunters chapter. there won't be anything that regards sexual themes because my mc and the original characters are minors and I'm not comfortable with this. only kisses and hugs.
Please don't read if you don't feel comfortable with those themes!
AUTHOR'S NOTE
It's been a few months since I first thought of this fic but I, for one time, decided to put the idea away for a while and focus more on school and my other fics.
However, as school has ended and my shadowhunters books stare at me from my shelves, I can't keep preventing myself from writing this, so here I am!
This story will probably have really slow updates, both because writing from the books is difficult and because that's not my only ff I'm working on.
So, I'll clarify a few things to make your reading more peaceful:
- as it's said in this introduction, Sophie was adopted by Jocelyn and is a few months older than Clary, so that makes her a Fray and the older sister.
- I will follow only the books' plot, so city of bones, city of ashes, city of glass, city of fallen angels, city of lost souls, city of heavenly fire. I will not follow what happens in the series, as it's completely different from the books and the books are my babies
- However, I will take the series scenes and use its cast to make edits on tiktok.
- Also, there will be a love plotline, just not very soon.
