"Well, I'm Trenton. Trenton Williams, and this is my sister Danielle. We go to St. Davenport High." Danielle gives us a curt nod in return.
"I'm Lauren. Georgia High School." I've never seen her around before, in a town as small as ours, news spreads fast. I know she would be bound to make a lasting impression on everyone she met.
"Oh, my cousin goes there," I smile.
"Morgan, I go to Georgia as well." I can't put my finger on it, but I recognize her face and her easy-going smile from somewhere.
I'm interested that they both go to Georgia High, which is known to be a relatively small high school with only 500 students; most of which got expelled from St. Davenport High.
"And I'm Elle," The girl who spoke up earlier says.
I smile, despite me asking if she was in my class, I know her. I don't really pay attention to my classmates which makes me sound like a horrible person, but I remember Elle. Her eyes are the prettiest green eyes I have seen, her hair somehow falling perfectly into place. It sounds like a rom com movie whenever I describe her and Danielle can confirm as I have spoken about her many times.
I decide to make my way over to a chair next to Elle and as I sit down, I notice that Elle and I are so close that our knees and elbows are touching. I smile.
Bang!
Everyone in the room jumps.
"What was that?" I ask, not knowing where the sound came from.
"I don't know, but I think it came from over there." Elle answers, while pointing to a door directly in front of us.
"Maybe, there is another person here and they, I don't know, tripped and fell?" I say, noticing that there are a total of 6 chairs in the room with one of them being empty.
"I think you're right, maybe we should check it out!" Morgan agrees.
"No. Nooooo-. I'm not coming with you guys. We should figure out a plan to get out of this place first." Lauren argues, with eyes wide open and hands wrapping around her waist like she is trying to protect herself.
"Yeah, what if we get hurt or something?" Elle responds.
But, before anyone can say anything, someone opens the door; I don't recognize him at all.
"Why are y'all staring at me?" He asks, clearly annoyed that he isn't all by himself. The boy has headphones hooked around his neck, he's wearing a similar attire to the rest of us. Sweatpants and a t-shirt that hugs his body.
Everyone is silent.
"Do you know him?" Elle whispers to me.
"No, do you?" I ask, whispering to her.
She blushes, "He's my ex." Elle answers.
