been a while, but my skills have increased,

Gus covered his face in embarrassment, slumping against a tree. 'why did I do that??' He mentally scolded himself for being foolish. He heard rustling in the leaves, head shooting up to see who it was. There, he saw Matt who had a sheepish smile. "I kind of new that when we kissed, but thanks for confirming it." Gus covered his ears and groaned, hot from embarrassment. Matt sat against the tree, next to Gus and sighed. "Relaxing out here, huh?" Gus took his hands off his ears, "Yeah.." He leaned his head back, hair getting caught in the bark. Matt placed his hand on Gus's hand, gently rubbing his hand with his thumb. They didn't make eye contact, everything felt right at that moment. It was quite, they were alone, it was peaceful, and lastly, they were young lovebirds. They both understood that young relationships don't last, but they were going to try and make things work.

"It's getting late, Gus," Matt said, looking through the tops of the trees. "I know," Gus mumbled, "Is everything alright?" Matt asked looking at him, Gus turned to him and held eye contact before responding. "I don't want this moment to end," He frowned and Matt chuckled. "Don't worry, we can come back tomorrow if you want, but I do not want to be stuck out here fighting whatever lives out here." Gus smiled, "Okay then, but one more thing before we leave," Gus hesitated as Matt raised an eyebrow. "Does this make us official?" Matt hummed, "I think it should, unless you think otherwise." Gus shook his head before scooting closer to him, "Consent?" Gus barely whispered and Matt nodded. It wasn't anything deep, just a small kiss, but it meant many things to the two. Once Gus pulled back, he stood up and held a hand out to help Matt up. Matt took it and jumped up.

They walked through the woods holding hands, in a comfortable silence. Eventually they had to go their separate ways. "I'll see you tomorrow, right?" Gus turned to Matt, "Of course," Gus smiled at Matt's response, and kissed his cheek. Matt's face turned red as he waved to Gus as he was jogging to get to his house.  He turned to where his house was and sighed, They may have been young, but their love was stronger then most adults.
