COLBY
The clear of a girl's throat finally gets my attention. Not that I wanted it. I pull away from Olivia and look up to see our friends watching with excited looks on their faces. Not that I like to have an audience when I'm making out with a girl. My girl. Olivia. Juliet. My Angel.
Miller stands in the back as he stares at us. He looked sad, but I think he knew deep down we had feelings for each other. I don't even want to know why he decided to kiss her, but I know everyone at this school dreams of her.
Their faces immediately go from excited to nervous. I furrow my eyebrows at them, confused. Olivia gasps, lets go of my hand, and backs away. At the same time, Sophie splashes a beer on my face. "You are such a fucking asshole, Jones!"
I wipe the beer from my eyes and stare at her. Is she wanting me to yell at her? Why is she still standing here? "Did that make you feel better?" I ask her, earning a snicker from our audience.
She stomps her foot and turns to Olivia, "You should be glad I didn't have a second one for you," she snarls at her.
Olivia laughs, crossing her arms, "I think you should go before you continue to embarrass yourself." Hell yeah, get her, Angel.
She huffs and points her finger at me, "Do not ever talk to me again." I wasn't planning on it. What was I even thinking? Cardboard box personality. With that, she walks away, and Olivia bursts out laughing.
"You think this is funny?" I say, turning towards her and grabbing her arm. She continues to laugh, "Okay. You asked for it." I begin to shake the beer out of my hair like a dog.
She squeals, squirming against my grasp, trying to escape, "Colby!"
"How adorable," I hear Crawford say from behind. He makes a gagging noise, and I glare at him, flipping him the bird.
I get most of my hair dried from the shakes and grin down at Olivia. She was the only thing in my world right now.
"I assume you're not going to take me back inside and dance with me," she says, eyeing my drenched dress shirt and pants.
"I think I would probably get kicked out."
She sighs, "Fine, but you owe me a dance another day."
"Yes, ma'am. Now, can I take you out of here and bring you to my place?"
"Hm, that sounds fun."
"Good," I say, wrapping my arm around her. I turn towards our friends, who watch us curiously, "Whatever you do, don't come back to the apartment." Olivia throws her head back, laughing.
"You don't got to tell me twice," Crawford says, spinning on his heel and heading back inside the building with Sadie.
Olivia and I began to walk down the street and headed back towards the apartments. It was a short walk back from campus where the event was held since the athletes live so close.
I felt almost different after she gave me an ultimatum. Like every fear I've ever had disappeared. Not that I feared getting a girlfriend, I just fear rejection. I don't want to get hurt. I told myself I had to put up with the stupid bullshit I started almost four years ago.
Now, I don't care. I found something I desperately wanted, and I'm not letting it go.
Olivia looks at me hungrily as we step into my bedroom. I begin unbuttoning my ruined shirt, "Should I just throw it away?" I ask, balling it up in my hands and sniffing it. Coors.
She snatches it out of my hand, "No. If you wash it now, it'll be fine. Here, give it to me," she snatches the shirt from my hand, "Take your pants off too."
