I graduated college today.
Actually, we graduated college today: my best friends and I.
We did it! Finally.
I officially obtained my Exercise Science degree. I had no job, and I had no clue where to even look. Of course, I'll need to get my master's in Athletic Training and pass the exam. I still have a long way to go.
I didn't know where I wanted to get a job because I didn't know where Colby was going. I know it's silly to plan my future around the guy, but I had no desire to leave him. I know it's quick—it's only been eight months—but I loved him. When you know, you know.
Colby is being drafted to the Major League Baseball Association but doesn't know where he is going yet.
It's stressing me out.
I know it's not about me, but I want to go wherever he's going. I'd move across the country for this boy. No questions asked.
Colby and his team were still playing baseball. They were in the playoffs, ready to hopefully win it all. I was on my way to the airport with Sadie, still in my graduation dress, rushing to get to Omaha, where the boys were playing. Bella and her family went out to celebrate in Winston-Salem, and Jada had begun to move out since she had a long drive back to New York.
I had decided to stay at Winston-Salem until Colby finished his baseball season. I was shocked when I found out the school approved my longer stay. It's the least they could do after working my butt off for four years.
The College World Series was played in Omaha, Nebraska, every year. It was unfortunate that it was so far away. We would only make it to the last game, which was hopefully the winning game. I would watch most of the second game on the airplane since we wouldn't be there.
We had an almost two-hour drive to Charlotte, which was far since it was the only airport with a nonstop flight to my man.
I'm just happy I'll make it to the last game, at least. Then I'll turn around and head back to North Carolina but with Colby this time.
We are pushing the time when we arrive at the airport. Since we won't be here long, we only brought a carry-on for our belongings.
We ran to the security line, which, gratefully, wasn't too long. "I should have changed out of these heels before we left," I groan, shifting my weight to my feet.
"You did bring other shoes, didn't you?" Sadie asks, looking down at my feet. She had changed hers in the car since she wasn't driving.
"Yes, I brought sandals and my OnClouds. I wasn't sure what the weather was like here." I actually almost forgot shoes. I packed this morning since we decided to party one last time last night before we didn't see each other for a while.
I'm just glad Bella is only a thirty-minute drive from Charlotte. It's a short drive from my small town of Concord. Sadie lives by the coast in Wilmington, so I won't see her as much, but I will definitely be using her place to go to the beach.
I hadn't spoken to her about her and Crawford's plans. I didn't want to pry. They've been arguing about what they would do, but I'm sure they worked something out. Crawford was from Richmond, so he was a good way away from us all.
