chapter fourteen , lacy
MY STOMACH'S ALL IN KNOTS, YOU GOT THE ONE THING THAT I WANT
LACY, OLIVIA RODRIGOi've always been scared of the idea of love. when you have it, everything is good. but what happens when you lose it? what happens when there's another person. what happens when you secretly love your ex, but the person who you talked about him to decided to kiss him.
lacy. she's popular. not popular enough, because it seemed like i didn't know her. which i didn't. sometimes, i wish i was her. how ribbons sit so perfectly in her hair, or how she can get any guy. at this point, i don't think it's about ethan anymore. it's jealousy.
ever since i walked in on them, i can't get rid of her. she's everywhere. maybe im a magnet, i attract the bad people. i am one. i'm the reason that our relationship failed.
"no your not, mia. stop saying that, he failed his own relationship." rhylee said, applying blush to her face.
i rolled my eyes, "your just trying to make me feel better."
"you need to forget about them and stop caring what people say about you." isabella added. "so get revenge?" i asked them, unsure.
"yes! imagine the look on their faces when you stop caring and going to parties, getting guys, and being lacy's mortal enemy!" rhylee said. parker laughed, "i think we can do that, but she needs lessons from us."
they all looked at me and smiled. "oh, please don't look at me like that." i uncomfortably looked away from them.
—
"guys, i don't think i can do this." i tapped my foot on the pavement. we all stood outside of the building where my next class was, with ethan.
"yes you can, mia. your better then both of them, you just have to show them." parker said.
"okay, first, that's kind of weird to say. second, please don't remind me of lacy, i've had enough of her." i looked over to the three girls standing next to me.
parker put her hands up like she was surrendering. "okay, i'm going inside. please send me your prayers!" i sarcastically smiled at all of them.
"we love you!" isabella said. "we're gonna miss you!" rhylee added. i flipped them off jokingly and went inside the building.
i was walking in the halls and saw mark. he stopped when saw me so i did the same. he jogged up to me, "what are you wearing?" my mouth hung open and i furrowed my eyebrows at him.
his eyes widened, "no i didn't mean it like that-"
i slapped him in the arm. "ouch," he said holding his arm. "what do you mean by that?" i crossed my arms.
"well no offense but you usually go to your classes looking like you just woke up. i don't know why your wearing so much makeup and a.. dress? you look gorgeous though, don't get me wrong." he said trying to cover up everything he said with his last sentence.
"thank you for.. some of that, but i'll tell you later." i said looking behind him.
"why?" he asked, looking behind him to where i was looking. i kicked him in the leg and started speed walking away. i looked back and saw that he realized why i was speeding away. lacy.
she's been wanting to talk to me about what happened but i've just been avoiding her. i already had to witness what happened and i didn't feel like having to hear anything from her.
i got into my class and sat next to who i was dreading sitting next to, ethan. from the corner of my eye i could see him looking me up and down but eventually just looking back to the front of the classroom. we were all waiting for our professor, who was currently five minutes late.
the silence was definitely uncomfortable, but thankfully it was broken by our professor entering the room on a skateboard.
i raised my eyebrows looking at him. i tried to hold my laugh in. if i laughed, it would draw attention towards me which would cause ethan to look at me. i don't care what my friends say, 'revenge' is stupid. if ethan and lacy want to stick their tongues down each others throats, fine. it's not like it's eating me alive every time i see them separately or together.
i don't even know why they have the nerve to want to talk to me. i just don't know why ethan hasn't tried apologizing yet, or even talking to me. we're next to each other right now and he has every opportunity to.
—
class was finally over. i got up and pulled my dress down and gathered my things. i was getting ready to go past ethan when i heard his voice, "mia,"
i took a deep breath in and turned around, looking at him. "ethan," i wanted to just run away.
"i'm sorry," he apologized. i could help but think that it was fake. maybe because i thought he would never do it.
"your okay, you don't need to apologize." i said. shit. are you dumb?
"no i do. everything i did and lacy did was unfair, im sorry." he apologized again. i was shocked he even said that. i couldn't help but smile at him. "thank you, i appreciate it." my smile grew bigger.
i felt like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i was about to turn around and leave when ethan's phone went off. he pulled it out and i saw a text message from lacy. i felt my heart stop.
'did she believe it?'
authors note:
i'm sorry for neglecting you guys i love you i promise!! i'll try to get more chapters out because i gained a little bit of motivation! anyways so basically ethan and lacy are on probably all of our hit lists now so that's fun!
