Chapter 10 • Enemy

A shock of adrenaline rushes through me when the liquid charges at me like a garland. I push Dagian away, and the black liquid doesn't hit me just a few inches.

Once it comes back together, the liquid melts into each other and seems to make a body. A monstrous beast stands before me, it's eyes are read as blood, and his claws half as long at its body. That thing is at least double my size and big, sharp teeth that are too big for his mouth to come out. It growls at me, but at the same time, it seems to be smiling.

I look back at Dagian, who just stands there with a sly smile on his face. "Do not fear him, [name]. He's our friend."

I can't speak a word out. My eyes only focused on that thing before me. It's way worse than I imagined it to be.

Adrenaline rushes through me, yet at the same time, I'm nailed to the ground. I can't take my eyes off it.

"Oh, I remember that look... it's the same look you had on your face when you saw for the first time a Night Stalker, "Dagian chuckles darkly with his hands on his sides.

I can't answer him, only my eyes shift to him. I feel my heart beating in my throat. "I-is that a Night Stalker?"I stutter.

You know better than that, don't you?" The creature creeps closer to me, and I take a few steps back. It's like I can't control my own body any longer. As it's taken over by fear.

My back bumps against him. Having no way out any longer. I'm trapped, stuck between a beast and this man. Dagian puts his hands on my shoulders. In comparison to his calm hands, I can now feel how hard I'm trembling. "Come with me. Let's fix the world together, just the two of us, "he whispers in my ear.

All of a sudden, the door swings open. I see Simon standing there. The blazer in his hand pointed at the Night Stalker.

"[Name], run!" He says, not seeming to realize that Dagian stands on the Night Stalkers side. He charges at the beast, swinging his blazer right in its chest. The Night Stalker barely moves. It doesn't even flinch. A long tongue of black liquid comes out his mouth, seeming to pick his lips, which he doesn't have. It swings it claws at Simon.

I feel a shock through my body, wanting to run over him and shout to get out of the way. But Dagain makes to keep me in place as his hands tighten and move them to my upper arms. "Simon, watch out!"

But it's too late. The claw slides through Simon's arm. He backs away. The blazer is still sticking in the beast. Simon stumbled back, holding his arm in pain.

"And you have the audacity to call yourself a soldier, boy?"says Dagian. His voice is dark and seems to be full of hate.
I try pulling myself away, with my arms feeling like jelly compared to his.

Simon can only growl back. Dagian looks unimpressed and looks at the Night Stalker. "Get him," he says with a normal tone of voice.
The monster obeys him, and the blazer melts away. Like it is a simple plastic toy in a small fire. The beast charges at him. On its four legs, he runs as fast as light as him. I can barely see it move.

"Simon!" I yell concerned. Dagian pulls me away with ease, and we leave the room. I can only catch a glimpse of Simon dodging the beast and falling to the ground before the door closes. I fight back and pull myself away.

"Let go of me!" I yell, but Dagian doesn't budge. He doesn't even seem to have trouble as he drags me away. "What are you doing? It's going to kill him!" I say pleading to him. But the man doesn't even look at me, only a glare on his face. "He shall learn or he shall die", he replies calmly and continues to drag him down the hall. We come to another door, and Dagain swings me through. I'm outside now, at least five hundred meters from the ground. Like a kind of balcony.

Everything down there is so small...

Dagian closes the door behind him. And we're now left alone. The wind blowing through my clothing, It's colder and harder. Dagian long hair flies with the wind as he turns around to face him. He walks over to me and I can't help but step back and glare at him.

My back hits the mini stone wall, close to the edge of the balcony. Dagian, walks past me and climbs on top of it.

Is he going to jump?!

"Last time I'll ask. Come with me willingly. And you will be the most powerful person on the earth, ruling by my side of this beautiful world." "You call that beautiful?", I say glaring at him. My eyes scanning the dead area of nature and dried grounds.

Dagian simply chuckles darkly. "If you're not going with me willingly... I'll take you forcefully." Before I can reply the door behind swings open and I turn around.

"Liam!" I say happily once I see him standing. A special weapon in his hand and glaring at Dagain. Suddenly a hand grabs me from behind and pulls me to him to the end of the balcony.

I see a shimmer of worry and panic on Liams face before Dagian, let's himself fall. Pulling me with him.

I can only see the ground coming closer with every second that passes...
