the beautiful moment, haunted
on a golden grass field
surrounded by an endless
stream of so many beautiful people
my eyes were on the artist
she dazzled the crowd
with her beauty, and that sound
yet even
amid euphoria
you turned your head and my eyes
drew to you
you began walking out of the crowd
you were with some friends of a similar size
yet even in this dark, the shadows
all I needed to recognise was that simple upturn
of your lips
a smile that could only be yours
and your gaze easy
with a fluttery goodness
lingering without a feel of rush
past me you went
not having seen my face beneath a bucket hat
but I saw you so surely
so I turned around from the star on stage
unsteady but suddenly
fearfully following your steps
anything else could have waited until after
but for some reason
that smile of yours
I had carried
that power of yours
here into this otherwise beautiful moment
and you
haunted it
too easily
easy haunting;
you're endless
you're persistent
you never end
amid euphoria
beneath a bucket hat
