LAINEY MAE VAN LIERE had it all.  born into a wealthy family,  she felt like royalty.  dinner parties every night,  fancy clothing,  being respected.   the world was her cake,  all to herself. she was her own queen; bratty and sassy. whatever she wanted, she would have.

nothing could've prepared her for hell. all she knew was the comfort of her family and money... she had never suffered a day in her life until then. the death of her father was unexpected, and to her luck there was no will left to her or her mother.  all their items,  their memories,   scattered in the wind and gone.  not a penny left to the heiress.  her mother refused to work a regular job,   so they ran with a group of men.

being oriental in an american society wasn't easy.  the torment,   the abuse,  the racism was too much to bear.  watching her mother become nothing but a whore was degrading. every night she prayed she wouldn't wake up. she craved death at the ripe age of eleven. she needed to escape, she reached out to someone she doubt would help.

but he did, her half brother lived out on a ranch far away... and by that night she was on the train to him. the sudden change of atmosphere and lifestyle gave her emotional whiplash, making her nauseous everyday. living on the ranch surely humbled the bratty girl,   and everyday she slowly forgot about her extravagant life.

life turned up after meeting her life long best friend,   changing into a better person and looking for a bright future...  but that didn't last forever.  after another traumatic event,   she was on her own again.  the misery,  pain,  and torture was back.  though this time,   she decided not to rely on anyone but herself.   and on her own,  she opened up her own coffee shop where she currently works.
