after lainey's father died, her mother had to turn to prostitution in order to make money. her mother found a man who ran an underground drug business and began to live with him. lainey endured abuse from the man and his own men, and watched her mother become a whore.
out of a fit of rage, the man murdered lainey's mother. to avoid being caught, the man decided to keep lainey and trick her into thinking he would care for her and protect her. despite being only eleven, lainey didn't fall for the man's lies and slit his throat in his sleep.
she often gets reoccurring nightmares of the incident... but she's moved forward and has built a life for herself.
