Lane woke up the next morning to a pounding on her door and in her head and she groaned. "Go away!" She yanked her blanket over her head in an attempt to block out whoever was on the other side of the door and snuggled deeper into her bed, hoping to fall back into the deliciously wicked dream she'd been having.
Unfortunately, the person who'd been banging on her door, that had let themself in when she'd refused to answer, had other plans.
The blanket she had just pulled over her head was suddenly ripped from her bed and she shot up with a scream, grabbing first the closest thing to her and throwing it in the direction her blanket went like a makeshift weapon, and then a pillow to cover her birthday suit pajama choice before rolling to the side and off the bed to hide.
Her heart was racing as her mind shifted too slowly from comfortable slumber to familiar fear as she tried to understand what was happening and how to get to safety.
The familiar and furious voice that yelled out brought her panic to an abrupt end but the adrenaline in her veins worked faster than her brain in switching to rage.
"Did you just throw a vibrator at me?" Steve's affront and disgust only fueled her fire as she popped her head over the edge of the bed, pillow held tightly over her chest.
"I'm sorry," she hissed. "I'm naked and a fucking creep pulled my blanket off me out of nowhere. My sleep addled brain went into fight mode and I was working with what I had near me!" The red flush on her skin was both due to her anger and the slight embarrassment at knowing that vibrator had only been in the bed with her because she'd fallen asleep directly after taking care of the arousal he'd ignited with his Captain Domination act last night.
He turned his back to her swiftly and tossed the blanket he'd snatched over his shoulder to her. "Well, I've been knocking for fifteen minutes and you weren't answering." He could hear the sounds of her pushing down on the bed to stand and rustling. "Why was a..a...that even an option as a weapon?"
She pushed past him forcefully in the small space between the end of her bed and the opposite wall, blanket wrapped tightly around her as she bent to pick the offending item up as she passed, before slamming it down on the dresser where she began to rummage for clothes. "I know you're a tight ass, Cap, but I'm sure even you know what sex toys do and why it might be in my bed." Clothes in hand she lifted the edge of the blanket and moved to push past him again, heading for the bathroom. "And I did answer. I told you to go away. Which I am now repeating!"
"Lane," he growled and whirled to follow her only to have a door slammed in his face. He stared at the wood and took a very deep, steadying breath. He hadn't come in here with the intention of...this...happening. But lately when it came to his interactions with Lane things never really went according to plan. "I'm sorry I startled you. I came in to get you up for training. Tony told you to get field trained and I wanted to get started right away before you decided to-" he stopped himself before saying what he really wanted to 'do something stupid again'. "Have a repeat of last night."
The sound of running water could be heard from the other side of the door but she didn't say anything.
"Lane," he rapped on the door lightly with a knuckle and waited a few minutes. The sound of water disappearing. "Lanie?"
The door swung open to reveal a still raging Lane. She was dressed now, in brightly colored leggings and another oversized sweatshirt with the words 'fueled by caffeine and spite' written in chunky lettering across the front and her hair was pulled up into a haphazard bun atop her head. "If you want me to train," she crossed her arms over the words and her molten brown eyes glared daggers up at him. "You come to me like a fucking adult and plan a time. You don't get to barge into my room like a toddler with a temper tantrum and demand I do what you say."
With that she pushed past him again, stepping on his foot as she did so and he couldn't help but think it was purposeful as he watched her storm off out of the room.

When Lane entered the kitchen the usual morning hustle and bustle was going on. Clint, Nat, Bucky and Sam sat around the table, Nat adorably in Bucky's lap, while Pietro leaned against the counter chatting with his sister as she cooked.
She walked over to the counter, greeting the twins and reaching for a mug to pour herself a steaming serving of black coffee. The trio exchanged a few general pleasantries and they congratulated her on her quick pivot during last nights mission and she immediately wanted to rub it in Steve's face. Not long after the sound of boots could be heard coming down the hall and everyone looked up to see Thor entering with his brother, looking broody, trailing behind him.
"Good morning, all," Thor said cheerily with a smile that seemed a bit too nervous.
Rightfully so, as the moment he said hello, the same moment Steve entered from the opposite hall, everyone jumped up and began questioning Loki's presence.
Thor held up his hands, placatingly. "I know Loki does not have the best reputation on Midgard."
"He tried to take over Earth!" Bucky shouted at the god of Thunder as he pointed toward the smirking god of mischief.
"Yes," Thor continued, clearing his throat. "But that was then, and there were extenuating circumstances, and this is now. And he helped me save Jane, he's trying to be better."
"So, you brought him here to be better and not Asgard," Steve asked, coming to stand in front of Thor.
"Well," Thor looked around the room and then over his shoulder at Loki who motioned for him to spit out whatever was going on. "Helping me save Jane did go against my father's orders and both of us are currently not on his list of favorite people right now. While Jane was more than willing to let me stay with her..."
"She did not want me around." Loki finished the explanation sounding almost bored as he looked around the room. His gaze paused on a woman with wine red hair and a malicious smile holding a mug under her chin.
Steve and the others began to go back and forth with Thor as Lane placed her mug on the counter before pushing herself up on it to sit beside where Wanda had stopped. Her eyes stayed locked on Loki's as she whispered to her friend. "You know, looking at the gods in the room I suddenly have a very deep urge to go to Paris." In the time since she'd moved to the compound Thor had been away so this was her first time seeing him in the flesh. And Loki... with the sharp gaze and wicked smile he was giving her at that moment, he was a walking red flag. And red was her favorite color.
Pietro had snickered and Wanda smacked her arm after a minute when she understood the meaning of Lane's words. "Lanie!!!
Her gaze finally broke from Loki's as she looked down at Wanda, smile widening. "What? They are hot."
"But they are brothers...Paris," Wanda's accent thickened as she whispered in a rush of embarrassment. "That's a little much don't you think?"
Lane let out a snort. "Oh please. It's me. Act like you don't know I would go to Paris with siblings in a heartbeat. Especially around here. Everywhere I turn there's another set of attractive siblings. Nat and Yelena, the Wakandan royals were smoking when they visited a few months back, the blue and green angry alien sisters....you two. It's basically like living in a weirdly hot wet dream."
Wanda's face flushed scarlet and Pietro's brows rose in surprise and Lane turned to pick up her coffee, only to find the reason for the current conversation standing in front of her.
"You know, I've been known to make dreams come true from time to time." Loki straightened the tie of his all black ensemble as he scanned Lane over now that he was up close before dipping his head in a semblance of a bow. "I am Loki, of Asgard and you are?"
Lane licked her lips, also giving the newcomer a very thorough once over, before holding out a hand. "Lane. Pleased to meet you."
Steve wasn't sure why his hands balled into fists, hidden neatly under his crossed arms, as he watched Loki take Lane's hand and bring it to his lips rather than shake it like she clearly intended. He just knew he didn't like it.
