The capital city was a lively place, and everyone seems to be getting along. Peace is here. Or at least on the surface, it is, but how many dragons and how many humans deep down hate the other species but don't dare to cross the King or the High Council? Forced peace and coexistence can only go so far; however, that isn't my problem.

"So Nathanael, what's your story? How does a kid like you end up as a messenger for the council?" I asked.

"Sorry, sir Gilgamesh, but those are private matters I do not wish to discuss. However, if you must know, Urram was the one who made me a messenger." Nathanael replied.

"Wait Urram? The second seat of the Coucil?" Solomon asked shockingly.

"That's correct; I owe my life to her."

Who would have thought that one of the high council dragons would "have a heart?" I think it'll be better for me to go in with more of an open mind when meeting them. Besides, all I know about them is just what I've heard from others and people who claimed to have had an audience with them. I've heard they are disgusted by humans and dragons that aren't Behemoth-class or higher. I've also heard they are fiercely loyal to the King, although I wonder to what end. We walked for about twenty minutes until we reached the castle doors.

"Wow, this castle is gigantic, but where are the guards? Is the council that sure of their strength that they think they don't need them?" I questioned.

"Not at all, sir Gilgamesh; the castle does indeed have guards. They're called the Seven Eyes." Nathanael answered.

"And where are they?"

"I wouldn't worry about them, sir; you may not be able to see them, but I assure you they can see you."

"I see... interesting." I said with a smile.

Nathanael told us we could leave our horses here and led us through the castle doors down a long corridor before we reached another huge door.

"Well, this is as far as I'll go; you two may enter whenever you're ready." Said Nathanael.

Solomon and I glanced and nodded at one another before I pushed the doors open. Immediately, a wave of intense heat engulfed us, and for a moment, it was quite difficult to breathe. As we stepped further inside, the doors closed behind us, and there we saw a few dragons before us on large thrones numbered one through seven. However, instantly, I noticed thrones one, two, six, and five were empty.

"Welcome, humans, to the domain of the high council. I am the third-seat Rusu. As you can see, the first, second, fifth, and sixth seats are empty, so the remaining seats will be discussing our reason for summoning you." Rusu said in a soft-spoken tone.

"Are those seats dead, and you're looking to fill them?" I questioned.

"This one already greatly irritates me; it doesn't even bow and offer its name; it just spouts nonsense the second it gets the chance." Growled the dragon in the seventh seat.

"Cain, hold your tongue; we've summoned them from their guild with no explanation and demanded they move here immediately without question. Do you expect them to be friendly?" Rusu stated.

Cain grumbled and then remained silent as commanded. Rusu then explained that the other seats weren't vacant; they were summoned by the King himself on an urgent matter. After Rusu was done talking, Solomon introduced us both.

"Oh! You're the King of Men, Gilgamesh?!" The fourth seat said excitedly, "I'm Vash the Fourth Seat; for a human, I'm a fan of yours. Hearing what you've accomplished against dragons by yourself is quite admirable."
