Uncomfortable

After yesterday, I find it difficult to concentrate at work. But after I look at the clock, a stone falls from my heart, because fortunately it doesn't take long until I finish work and can see Day again and somehow I'm already looking forward to it. So that time passes faster, I handle a few cars and clean a little.

----

Finally the time is up and I can finish work. With full anticipation, I wash my dirty hands, change clothes quickly and wait for Night to come by to pick up his car and me. I make myself comfortable on a chair next to his car.

After a short time, I hear steps coming in my direction. I see who it is and see Night coming towards me.

"Hey Mhok, are you ready?"

"See I am"

"Okay, then let's go"

So I get up from the chair and go to the side of the passenger, open the door and sit in his car. He gets in on the other side, puts the key in the ignition lock and turns on the car. We're finally leaving and I'm slowly getting a little nervous.

"You, tell me... Why did you want me to repair your car and no one else?"

"Well, I heard that you are very good. Rather said that you are the best in your workshop. I also heard from a friend that you are not the way you say." I'm pretty confused now. What does he think I'm not the way I pretend?

"What do you think?" I ask him and turn to him with a confused look. He turns his eyes off the street briefly to look at me. He smiles at me briefly and then quickly turns his gaze back to the street.

"What am I supposed to mean? What do you think? I'll say so... You pretend to be a tough guy, behave rather coldly towards others and are not really empathetic. But I was told that it is only a facade and quite honestly? When I saw how you dealt with Day, I also think it's just a facade. For whatever reason, you have this facade"

Wow, I'm speechless... Did he really analyze me like that, within this short time that I was with him and Day? And who did he hear that from? But maybe he's right about what he says. Maybe I really have a facade, but I deliberately don't show it myself.

"Night, may I ask you something? I'd like to know who you heard that from? I've been wondering since you first mentioned it..."

"We have two mutual friends, hadn't I mentioned that yet?"

"No, you haven't. But which of the two said it?" I have no idea who would come into question, who we both know or who we are friends with.

"You'll get to it, believe me. I promised that I wouldn't say anything because it's a bit uncomfortable for the person to be honest. But Mhok, there is nothing bad about admitting that you may be more emotional or empathetic than you would like to admit. Emotions are good and showing them even better. Don't be ashamed. Why do you think Day and I always tell each other what we think or feel?"

"I don't know. Tell me..." I really have no idea why.

"It's very simple: if you don't say anything, the other person can feel hurt or think something wrong. This can cause problems. Of course, the other person can always misunderstand what you say, even if you are open and honest, but then you can talk about it."

Well, that sounds logical. But this can also cause more problems, even if you should talk about it. Besides, I don't want to have a fight, I've had enough of it in my life...

"Maybe you're right. But what if the person doesn't want to talk about it?"

"Then the person is not old enough yet." Does he want to tell me that you can't be old enough in certain situations?

"Uh, okay, I see. Makes sense..." I tell him and try not to think any further about what he said.

Fortunately, after a few minutes we arrived at Day and Night's house. The silence was also not unpleasant and I actually enjoyed it. We get out of the car and walk towards the fence gate, which opens Night. A few meters further we arrive at the front door, which he also opens. We take off our shoes in the hallway and go to the living room.

Once there, I see a woman sitting on the sofa, with brown, long hair. She has a ponytail and wears a light blue blouse. Grey trousers adorn her legs. She heard our steps and is now looking at us.

"Oh, Night, you're back home. Who did you bring with you?" She asks with interest. I'll answer her a little shyly before Night can.

"Hello. I am Mhok" I say in her direction, with my hands, as if I were praying to show her respect. She does the same with her hands and greets me back with a "Hello, Mhok..." but looks at me very suspiciously, as if I had done something very bad.

"Mom, that's the one I suggested as Days Caretaker." As if I were a trophy, he presents me, to his mother. Quite surprised, she looks at Night and me.

"Oh?" Is the only thing she can say.

"Mom, what is it? He is the best we can imagine. He's not like the others before. Believe me. I feel like it. In addition, I've already seen how he deals with Day and you can't compare that with the others before. Mhok treats him very differently. Much more loving..."

I'm very surprised by Night's words because he only saw me once taking care of Day... And I only took him to the door.

"Is that so? Night, I don't know him and neither do you. Day even less. How can we be sure that Mhok can really take care of Day?" Wow, she's quite open and direct, but that hurt a bit, I have to admit...

"Mom...". Night wants to say something else, but I'll get in the way of him. I take a step forward and Night and his mother look at me confused sn.

"I know you're worried and I can understand that. I don't have a son who is almost blind, but I know I can take care of him"

"How do you know you can take care of him?" She asks me with a very strict tone.

"I just know it. Please... Give me a chance and I'll prove it to you." I want to prove myself to her and show that I can take care of Day.

"Please Mom, give him a chance." Even Night is now trying to persuade his mother to hire me as a caretaker.

His mother says that she doesn't know what to say about it.

"Okay, let's try," she says after a few minutes of reflection.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!!" I tell her and am happy that I get my chance. "I will certainly not disappoint you!" I reply to her with a smile.

"Okay, we'll see. But if you make a mistake and my son is in danger, you are fired and you will not see each other again!" She sounds very ambitious and also a bit mean... This is a bit uncomfortable for me, I have to say, and I would like to escape the situation I am in right now.

But I have to take care of Day... And he's the only important thing right now in my life. Even though I feel uncomfortable, when I'm near Day's and Night's Mom...

We'll see how it goes
