Amalthea sat in the car, trapped between the boy and the satyr. They were driving so fast that she thought they would get arrested before she even got a proper explanation, but there were no police cars in the middle of nowhere.

"Can I please get some explanation?" Amalthea asked at last.

"I need one too!" the boy agreed.

The two of them turned to look at the satyr, who looked like he knew almost too much and was about to pass out.

"Well, I'm Grover," he said quickly, "I was sent to look after Percy here, but now I realise that I also need to rescue you, as well."

"Amalthea," she replied, "And what do you mean, rescue me?"

Grover opened his mouth like he was about to reply, when suddenly they heard something right behind them.

"Mrs Jackson, could you please be faster?" Grover begged.

The woman at the front, Mrs Jackson, tightened her grip on the steering wheel. Suddenly, she made a sharp turn up a hill off the road.

"Are you crazy?" Aunt Jenna shrieked, holding on for dear life.

"The camp is up here, isn't it?" Mrs Jackson yelled, almost talking to herself. She seemed to understand this entire confusing scenario.

Suddenly, the car tipped over and they all screamed. Amalthea wondered if this was how she would die. Trapped in a car with a couple strangers.

She hit her head several times as the car went over and over. At last, when the car stopped moving, she quickly scrambled out through the back glass, which was now so smashed she could squeeze through easily. The boy reached his hand out, thinking that she was helping him out too, but she ran to the side of the car to look for her aunt.

"Please be okay..." Amalthea whispered under her breath.

Amalthea got up and knocked on the side glass, yelling her aunt's name. For a couple scary seconds, she thought her aunt was dead, but then Aunt Jenna blinked her eyes open, looking dazed. Amalthea grabbed at the door and tried to open it with as much strength she had. The boy, Percy, scrambled to his mom's side and helped her out.

After a minute, everyone was out of the car safely. Grover was barely conscious, muttering 'food' every few seconds. Just as they thought they were safe, they heard loud footsteps a couple metres away from them.

"Oh my god, it's the elephant man ," muttered Amalthea, trying to break the tension.

The boy, Percy, looked at her for a second with slight amusement, before he started panicking.

"Listen, everyone," Mrs Jackson said, pointing to a hill near them, "We need to get to that tree. Just keep running, and if the Minotaur comes near you, jump to the side."

"How do you know that?" Percy demanded.

"No time!" Mrs Jackson said, "Listen, when you kids get to the top of the hill, you'll be safe. Take Grover with you. Quick!"

"What about you and my aunt?" Amalthea asked, turning to Aunt Jenna.

"Amalthea, listen," Aunt Jenna said, "I don't understand what's going on, but you need to be safe. Your father... he warned me that danger would always surround you. I think this is what he meant. Go!"

Amalthea was about to say something else, but the monster was back, and extremely nearby. She grabbed one arm of the satyr and began to run, Percy taking the other arm.

"Aunt Jenna! Run! I'll meet you at home!" Amalthea yelled.

She looked behind her quickly and saw Aunt Jenna hesitating. They looked at each other and some understanding passed by them. She watched as her aunt began to run down the hill. She hoped that the monster wouldn't notice her.

Just as she began to think she would make it, the monster turned to them and began sprinting after them.

The two kids stopped, both too out of breath to keep running. There was no way they could outrun this monster. They hid Grover behind a tree and scattered.

Just when Amalthea thought her luck couldn't get worse, the monster began to charge at her. She forced herself not to run and stood still, hoping Mrs Jackson knew what she was doing. She waited a few seconds and then dodged to the side.

"Get Grover!" Amalthea yelled as she started running again.

Percy ran to the side and grabbed Grover, pulling the satyr as fast as he could, but it wasn't enough. They would never get there in time.

Mrs Jackson seemed to understand this and she quickly grabbed a torch and shone it at the monster, getting its attention.

The monster turned to Mrs Jackson and ran at her. She tried to side-step it, but the monster knew what to do now. It held its arms to catch her on both sides and snatched her aggressively. It lifted Mrs Jackson with glee and amusement, as if thinking of the most entertaining way to kill her.

Amalthea and Percy watched in horror as Mrs Jackson looked at them, turning into a cloud of gold before completely disappearing.

"Mom!" Percy yelled, forgetting all about the monster, "No! Mom!"

The monster looked confused for a few moments before turning to Percy.

"Fuck you!" Percy shouted.

Amalthea watched in panic as Percy began to run at the monster in pure anger. She ran after him, trying to stop him.

Percy jumped on the monster's leg and leaped high into the air. For a second, Amalthea thought he would just go flying through the air into a tree, but Percy switched directions halfway through and held onto the monster's head.

He looked shocked by what he had just done, but almost fell off immediately. The monster was bashing its own head into a tree to be released from the twelve year old. It was either really stupid, really inflexible or really into self-harm, as it didn't seem to think of just grabbing Percy off.

Percy grabbed one of the its horns and pulled as hard as he could. Amalthea grabbed the monster's tail and began to knot it round a thick big tree.

Snap! One horn was pulled off the monster. It looked up with anger and shock, attempting to run, but falling over with its tail stuck.

Amalthea ran over to the monster's head, that was laying on the floor and began pulling on the other horn whilst Percy began digging his horn into the monster's back.

With a wail, the monster evaporated into dust and they collapsed on the floor, a horn in each of their hand.

They got up slowly and mustered up all their energy to get to the hill. The last thing Amalthea remembered was seeing a girl and a weird silhouette hovering over them until she passed out.
