The misty shadows inside Jack's mind greeted him once more. His mind was in a daze, and he stood up. Jack felt a lack of sense in his body. He was missing something. His gaze shifted downwards and he observed his arms, or for a better term, a lack of one.
???: "It's quite amusing, watching you out there..."
Jack: "Great, it's you again."
???: "*Chuckle*You sound disturbed."
Jack: "Well I do have something I have to get back to so..."
It was indeed the voice from before but something was different. The voice never spoke this well, speaking complete sentences and everything.
???: "You don't question it do you?"
Jack: "Question what?"
???: "Why do you, a human, have a demon stuck in your head?"
Jack: "To be fair, I have been a little busy so no, I haven't."
???: "That doesn't seem to be the only thing you are oblivious to."
Jack: "Hm?"
???: "Did you forget about your mask? It fell off during the tremors but you were too busy catching a box..."
Jack: "..."
That was not good. Being in an arena surrounded by demons watching, he would surely be found out. Not his best moment.
???: "You realize the moment you go back out there, you'll die right? Your arm was sliced clean off and you fell who knows how many feet."
Jack: "Doesn't matter."
???: "Hehehe, you treat your body like a metal wire. Strong, yes, but when you start twisting, it snaps."
Jack: "Your point?"
???: "*Sigh* How can you be so dumb yet smart when you want to."
Jack: "Who said I could choose?"
???: "..."
Jack gazed into the darkness before him, as if he could see the demon. If he made out of this alive, he would get his answers. No more messing with his head, he was done with it.
???: "There is one way you could live to see this contest end..."
Jack: "Oh yeah? And what's that?"
The air rose still with silence. The uneasiness in Jack's stomach grew.
???: "Give up and hide."
Jack: "...Not gonna happen."
???: "I had a feeling you'd say that."
The world around him flashed with white, the voice fading into the distance. Jack took a breath, sharp pain screaming everywhere. He opened his eyes...
A dull red sky greeted him. Rock pillars surrounded him. His shallow breath came out like a low whistle. Nothing in his body felt like moving. Jagged rocks lay beneath him.
