A/N These are not the same Amazon's as the ones in the TV show Supernatural. I did get the idea from the show, but I have changed them up a bit, so don't think they are exactly the same because they aren't

A/N Sorry I didn't feel like finding any other last names... I may do this on some other ones so don't freak out or anything.

How to identify:

Amazon's were made to blend in so the only way to figure out if they are an Amazon or not is to see them use their abilities. Other than that they don't have any distinguishing marks or anything that makes them stand out.

Amazon facts:

1. Amazons are only females and, even if a male's mom is an Amazon he doesn't carry the Amazon gene.

2. Much like Banshees, Amazons don't die from the werewolf bite. They won't turn from the bite either.

3. They aren't affected by mountain ash. They can get through it and may be a bit weaker. But overall they can get through it easily and it doesn't really affect them.

4. Amazon's have incredible agility and are usually drawn to tiring sports and activities.

5. They are naturally cunning and smart.

6. Amazons contain these traits because they had to adapt to the land they were in. They are strong to fight off animals and other supernatural creatures, they are fast to out run them, and cunning and smart to out smart them. All their abilities they have are more like survival skills that have been passed on.

7. In Greek mythology, the Amazons were a race of women warriors. Scythian women were the real-world basis for the myth.

8. In the Iliad, the Amazons were referred to as Antianeirai ("those who fight like men")

Background

I came up with this while beginning to write Out Of The Shadows, my Derek Hale fanfic. It was actually when I was just starting to write down ideas for the story, I hadn't even started writing it yet.

I knew I wanted my main character to be Jackson Whittemore's twin sister, I also knew I wanted her to have some sort of supernatural ability. The problem was Jackson couldn't be a supernatural creature, so it had to be something isolated to women.

As I did some research I came across the Supernatural(tv show)'s list of creatures. And one of the first ones I found were Amazons.

Then I began thinking about how Amazons were female warriors and how I could create my own version of it.

I thought it was weird how the Supernatural version of Amazon's speed had to do with growth and pregnancy. And I didn't really like it so I used it in terms of agility speed. I also have them strength because I started playing with the idea that Amazons had gotten these abilities after having to survive with creatures like werewolves and such.

It's almost like a 'survival of the fittest' or a 'natural selection' concept.

They were dealing with creatures stronger and faster than ordinary humans, so they adapted and became faster and stronger. But I kept it strictly with women.

This is actually one of the few creatures Alie-Rae didn't help me with. But there are plenty others that she and I created together and that she created herself, so stay tuned!
