Hyunjin glanced around the beautiful Vaucluse restaurant that they were seated inside, his eyes roaming over the interior of the place until they found its hostess, standing right in front of them.

Her dark skin contrasted greatly with her long black hair, which fell elegantly down past her shoulders.

"How many people will be dining here tonight?" She asked politely as she smiled at the two of them.

"Only three," Jisung told the hostess pleasantly as he lightly placed his hand on Hyunjin's back, feeling the latter tense slightly under his touch.

The hostess nodded, smiling wider in response. "Follow me please." She stated as she led them to their seat.

Hyunjin followed along without protest, noticing how Jisung's grip on his back tightened for a split second before he let go completely to pull the seat out for Hyunjin.

Hyunjin glanced at Jisung for a brief moment, biting the inside of his cheek before sitting down.

"Would you like anything to drink?" The hostess asked as she watched Jisung take a seat.

"Can I just get some scotch whiskey?" Jisung requested nonchalantly, causing Hyunjin's attention to instantly shift toward him.

"Of course." The hostess responded cheerfully before glancing over at Hyunjin. "And for you?" She asked kindly.

"White wine will be fine. Thank you." Hyunjin told her politely.

The hostess smiled and nodded. "Of course. I'll have your drinks out shortly," she replied softly before walking away from them.

They both stayed silent for a minute or so before Jisung opened his mouth to speak.

"Hello, son." Jisung's father interrupted, surprising both Hyunjin and Jisung.

Jisung glanced up at his father, clenching his jaw for a second before averting his gaze. "Hello." He spoke emotionlessly.

"Who is this handsome young man you are sitting with?" His father inquired, eyeing Hyunjin curiously as he sat down in one of the empty chairs.

"This is Hyunjin." Jisung introduced him simply.

"Nice to meet you, sir." Hyunjin greeted politely with a small smile as he reached out to shake his father's hand.

"Mm." Jisung's father hummed quietly, ignoring Hyunjin's offered hand as he glanced briefly at Jisung. "Is this the boyfriend you've never told me about?" He asked.

Hyunjin glanced quickly at Jisung again, who was still staring down at the table, a tight line formed between his brows.

"Yes... he is," Jisung answered.

"I see. How old are you?" his father asked after a short moment of silence, turning his attention towards Hyunjin.

"twenty-three, sir," Hyunjin answered softly.

"I see...." his father muttered quietly before he shifted his gaze towards Jisung. "Have you gotten married yet?" he asked, raising his eyebrows slightly at his son.

Jisung stiffened as he clenched his jaw. "No. Not yet." Jisung stated coldly.

"That would be nice then." His father commented dryly.

"Father." Jisung hissed lowly.

"I said what I said, Ji."

"Sung," Jisung murmured in annoyance.

His father glanced at him with furrowed brows before he sighed. "Jisung." He corrected himself.

Jisung shook his head dismissively, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest tightly.

Hyunjin glanced across the table at Jisung, noticing the stiffness in his frame and the slight frown on his face.

"I apologize for the wait, gentlemen." A waiter announced when he arrived at their table, placing a tray with a glass of whiskey and wine onto the table. "What can I get for you?" he asked Jisung's father with a friendly smile.

"I'll take a vodka soda with lime. Thanks." He suggested, giving the waiter a smile that seemed genuine.

The waiter smiled before writing down the order on the tablet he held in his hands and turned to walk away.

"So, son." His father began. "What made you choose Hyunjin over Sana?" He questioned, glancing momentarily at Hyunjin before looking back at Jisung.

Jisung tightened his hold on his arms. "Father, I told you not to talk about her anymore." He demanded, keeping his tone calm despite the irritation he felt bubbling within him.

His father chuckled lightly before shaking his head as he leaned forward slightly. "Well, I thought it was obvious by now that you still love her, Jisung."

"Do I seem like someone who would stay loyal to someone who cheated?" Jisung shot back harshly.

"Oh come on. You were still young teenagers! And they only did it for fun." His father tried arguing.

Jisung narrowed his eyes. "Don't say things you don't know, Father," he warned him sternly.

"Ji-"

"Jisung. My name is Jisung, not Ji." Jisung reminded him in a harsh voice, anger evident in his words.

Hyunjin had remained quiet during the whole exchange, but his eyes never left either Jisung or his father.

He could sense the tension radiating between them as Jisung tensed even further; he couldn't blame him though.

Despite having known each other for almost four years now, Hyunjin and Jisung didn't really interact much outside of work.

They only talked because Hyunjin worked for Jisung.

But seeing him angry was something Hyunjin was definitely not used to seeing, especially considering how calm and collected Jisung normally was.

When Hyunjin looked up again, Jisung's eyes had moved back toward his lap, and he was now clenching his teeth together tightly.

After a moment, Hyunjin slowly reached his hand beside him, gripping tightly onto the side of Jisung's wrist, making him glance over at him quickly.

Jisung raised his eyebrows questioningly, and Hyunjin merely lifted the younger's hand, pressing a light kiss to his knuckles.

Jisung blinked, watching silently as Hyunjin placed his hand on his lap, gently stroking the top of it in a comforting manner.

Jisung bit his lip as he stared up at Hyunjin, blinking once more rapidly before he glanced back down toward his lap.

Jisung's father glanced between the two boys, sighing softly in annoyance. "You really haven't changed at all." He muttered quietly as he stood up from his seat, brushing off his pants slightly before leaving the table without another word.
