An Alicorn's Legacy

Prologue

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hey so this is the prologue to the story as I figure out what to do for the first chapter so if this seems short that's why! Also this takes place right after magic returns to Equestria and Sunny is turned into an Alicorn! Also fair warning the updates may be inconsistent but we'll see how it goes! Also please any feedback that you have! I like to read comments :)

Now on with the story...

    The sky exploded into a flash of purples, greens, oranges, pinks, and just about every color imaginable. The magic from the unity crystals flowed across the land in the dancing lights that colored the evening sky like nothing that had been seen before. At least not since the time of Twilight Sparkle.
   
But in lands long forgotten by the pony kinds of Equestria, stood a lone tower amongst the dark mountains. There, in the lone tower lived the one pony that posed as the single threat to the ponies of Equestria in over 1,000 years.
   
The power of the Unity Crystals trickled into that dark, lonely tower and awoke the slumbering plum Alicorn. Jolting awake from her slumber the Alicorn stood gasping in her bed, denying the feel of magic washing over her body.
  
How could this be? Magic hasn't been present in over a 1,000 years! This must be the cold from the wind! Yes! that's it!
    I'll just close the window then.
   
But when the Alicorn went to the window by her bedside to close the open window, she saw it. The bright colors of the dancing lights, right there outside her window so close that she could almost grab it herself. Racing out of her room the Alicorn headed for her throne room. Running past the overgrown tree, and her stone throne, Opaline leaned down to the small pool of water that lay in the middle of the room. When her face stood just an inch above the water Opaline whispered an ancient spell that had not been used since the magical times of Equestria. After reciting the full incantation the pool began to swirl into a whirlpool until an image appeared. There in the now still water laid the image of Maretime Bay. Opaline's eyes widened in disbelief at what was being shown right in from of her.

    "So magic has finally returned to Equestria...and who do I have to thank for this?" Opaline murmured before calling for her servant Misty. Misty being a shy and timid pony slowly approached the firey Alicorn.

    "What is it, Opaline?" Misty sheepishly asked.

    "Look here Misty...Magic has returned to Equestria at last.." Opaline pointed towards the image in the small pool.

    "Woah.." Misty was awed at the sight of ancient magic that lay in front of her. Opaline waved her hoof over the water and ordered, "Show me the pony that brought back magic to Equestria!"
   
The water began to swirl again into a mini whirlpool until it settled once more displaying an image in the pool. This time however, instead of a busy fishing town, an apricot colored pony with a magenta mane that had a rainbow streak running down it and dark aqua green eyes appeared in the water. Opaline studied the pony and saw the gold glowing unicorn horn and pegasi wings, her eyes widened in realization of what she was looking at.
   
The last Alicorn in Equestria...
   
The perfect thing to bring back her to full power. But perhaps one Alicorn wasn't going to be enough to get her back to full power...

    "Misty!"

    "Yes Opaline?"

    "I want you to go to that town and spy on that new Alicorn...let me know about everything you find out...especially about all ponies that are...close...to the Alicorn," Opaline ordered Misty as she gave Misty an amulet that hung on a gold chain, and held an amethyst disc covered by a gold rim.

    "This amulet will allow me to see what ever you see so long as you ALWAYS wear it around your neck." Opaline said to Misty. They walk over to the door of the throne room and Opaline swings the doors open revealing the stairs that lead to the exit of the tower.

    "Now...go say hello to our new neighbors."
