I just woke up from yet another strange dream, the rising sun had gently woken me up. It seemed we had fallen asleep in bed together.
As I looked over to Miri's gentle sleeping face, I suddenly remembered.
I shook her awake, scared, in a frenzy. She opened her eyes, surprised at being woken up so abruptly. "What? What is it?" She murmured in a sleepy voice.
Her turquoise eyes were staring at me as I half yelled "You didn't take out your contacts, this could do some real damage. Take them out before falling back asleep."She gave me a confused look "Contacts ? Wait did you put contacts on me yesterday ? I don't really remember much after starting to read the Rider book."
She must have still been too sleepy to comprehend anything I actually said, so I decided to explain it to her like she was five. "No, I didn't put anything on you, dear. I'm talking about your turquoise contacts. You've had them since we met, remember ? We need to take them out so they don't hurt your eyes."
Her eyes narrowed at me, "Why are you speaking to me like I'm an idiot when you're in fact the stupid one ? These aren't contacts, this is my real eye color."
"No it's not, turquoise eyes don't exist in nature. I think you're still sleepy so your brain isn't functionning well. Come with me." I got out of bed and pulled on her arm, she followed me with no resistance. We headed to the bathroom.
There, she pulled down her lower eyelid with one hand and pulled up her higher eyelid with the other hand. "Go ahead, see if you can find a contact lens in there."
I quickly washed my hands.
I hovered over her and tried to pinch the contact lens off, but nothing happened, I was pinching air.
Damn, it had already dried out.
I got out some eye solution from the nearest cabinet and told her look up. Thankfully, I knew what to do as I had been in this exact situation before.
I applied the eye solution, then massaged the eyelid gently.
When I failed to get it out, it made me think that it probably needed to be hydrated more. So I attempted it three more times.
I attempted other methods to get the contact lens out, before resigning myself to the fact that what she said may actually be true.
All throughout my exploration of her eyes and my foolishness, Miri stayed still and docile. When I was finally coming to terms with the fact that she may not be normal, on top of being crazy; she sighed and left the bathroom.
I followed her back to the bedroom, where I found her once again laying on my bed, this time with an inquisitive look on her face.
I cleared my throat, "I'm sorry for not beliving you earlier."
She gestured with her hand as if indicating for me to forget about it, "You always do this, so I'm used to it. In fact, it's actually kind of cute how worried you were about me."
I sat down next to her in bed, ready to ask her about the weird remark. Before I could utter a word, she put a hand on my forearm and looked me deeply in the eyes. Her hair was all over the place which made her look adorable, I just wanted to run my hand through it.
"Tell me about your dream." She said, her tone firm.
I immediately blushed, remembering that strange dream "I'm sorry, it's private, I'd rather not."
She stuck out her low lip, looking pouty "You wanted to have answers as to who I was and how I knew you. The dreams are clues and I'll help you navigate them. I'll have you realize the truth on your own like bringing a horse to water, so tell me." She squeezed my arm and that pressure made me imagine her squeezing my neck.
Oo what the fuck, that was out of left field.
Seeing my reticence, she continued "Hmm I guess you're embarassed. So let me start, this would probably be your second dream. So... Is it the one where you were a woman and we discovered the joys of lesbian sex?"
I blushed, I wanted to hid, how the hell did she know.
She prodded and prodded until I gave in.
I started "So, we were by a beautiful river and I was kissing up your neck and slowly caressing the small of your back where you have a tattoo of an axe. Then we..."
