I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment being in senior year. My life had done a total flip, both academically and in showbiz — I'd scored not one, but two ambassador deals. I could confidently rate it a ten now. Ms. Murphy's tough love had paid off, pushing me to work hard and make good choices. It wasn't so bad after all.
The lessons I learned from what had happened in our junior year had stayed with me, and I had become a better, more responsible person because of them. Not just me but everyone.
Gideon had completed his community service and counseling, and it showed in his new positivity. Victoria had overcome her drug addiction and was thriving in therapy, while Sandra had finally felt at peace, and fit in.
Kelvin Cooper, who had been awarded a full scholarship by the Ministry of Education as a gesture of redress for the injustice he had endured, joined our class, bringing a new perspective to our circle.
And as for Henry Miller... well, let's just say he was no longer a part of our lives. His confession to Pearl's murder had been a shock to us all, and we had cut ties with him immediately; he was serving six years in juvenile jail, and while it was a harsh sentence, we all knew it was what he deserved. His absence wasn't felt, and we were all better off without him.
Looking into the future, we were all excited about our plans; I had my heart set on studying communication at Princeton. Victoria was aiming for political science and law at Yale. Sandra was interested in criminology at Harvard, and Gideon had his sights set on computer science at MIT.
We were all eager to take the next step in our lives, and we knew that no matter what lay ahead, we would face it together, even though we would go our separate ways.
We had faced our demons, learned from our mistakes, and come out stronger on the other side. The halls of Hill Academy had seen us at our best and worst, but in the end, they had shaped us into the people we were meant to be.
