Esseshi
It had been nearly two weeks since Will came over for the first time. I'd seen him a couple more times, he even came over to my house again, but I wished I could've seen him a bit more. Will seemed distracted and maybe even. . .nervous about something. I tried asking him what it was, but he just brushed it off. But at least Arshall was warming up to him. They almost seemed to be getting over their distaste for Will, though they wouldn't say it out loud, of course. I sat on our stone couch, basking in its heat. Ihreet sat next to me, similarly relaxed. I hated that feeling I got every morning, my thoughts sluggish, so tired I couldn't even move. It was like I was a pair of jammed gears, struggling to move. Thankfully, the heat seemed to grease my wheels.
I stretched, getting up from the couch. I went over to the kitchen, where Shiresh had left me a list of things we needed from the store. Earth didn't have a lot of the products we were used to, but we had managed to find some substitutes. I pulled out my phone- which I had finally managed to get connected to the human telephone network -texting Will.
Hey Will! You think you'll be able to come over today? I sent.
After a moment, the reply appeared.
Maybe, the usual meeting spot? I'll let you know if I can make it.
Okay, sounds good. Thank you Will. I texted back.
No problem, I hope I can see you soon. Thank you Esseshi.
I put the phone away, and glanced over to Ihreet.
"Ihreet! I'm headed out for a bit, I'll be back soon." I said.
"Alright! Stay safe." Ihreet yelled back.
I nodded, walking to the front door, and stepping out.
I looked around, walking down the sidewalk. Today didn't have the best weather. It was much too cold, at least for my taste, and too windy. But I wasn't going to let that slow me down, so I continued down the sidewalk anyways.
The store we went to wasn't too far away, only a few blocks down. So it only took a few minutes before the store came into view. I stopped for a moment, catching my breath. A deep voice spoke, coming from my left.
"Are you Esseshi?" The voice asked.
"Y-yeah? Why do you ask?" I said, slowly turning to face the voice.
A tall man- who wore a black suit, and sunglasses -stood there, on either side of him stood two burly men. I wasn't sure what this was, but I didn't like it one bit.
"Does the name Jake Winchester mean anything to you?" The man in the center said, his voice accusatory.
I tensed up.
"And what if it does?"
The man on the right chuckled.
"Then we beat you senseless, that's what?"
I pulled my phone from my pocket, stealthily sending a message to Will. My family was closer, but they hadn't wanted to connect their phone to the Earth network. I was regretting not trying harder to convince them to. I looked to the man in the center, my feathers ruffled.
"Now w-why would you d-do that?" I asked, tense with fear.
He frowned dangerously.
"Because Jake is my son, and I'm not going to let some alien freak push him around!"
A dart hit me in the side of the arm, I assumed it was tranquilizer. I ripped it out, I wasn't sure whether human tranquilizer could even effect me, but luckily the dart hadn't even pierced deep enough to actually inject anything. I tried to run, panicking, but another thug jumped out, blocking my way.
