This takes place at the very beginning, after Sabre and Orange meet)

—————————————————————————————————————

[Sabre's POV]

These 'plains' are wide and expanse, covered in bright grass with some flowers dotted around, the occasional twisting tree breaking up the sea of light green. The grass moves like water when the wind blows. I can see the sky, for the first time; it's a nice dark-ish blue color with fluffy white things floating around.

I feel a little nervous touching the grass. It feels nicer than what was in the lab, but at the same time the feeling of it brushing against my skin is weirding me out. The floor's never done that before.

"Sabre? Are you okay?" Orange asks me. Oops, I forgot he was there...

"Hm- Oh. Yeah, yeah I'm okay. Just..." I reply. "I've never been outside before."

"You what?" Orange exclaims, looking surprised. It looks a bit funny because he has to crane his neck to look at me. "How have you never been outside before?"

"I... didn't come from a place like where you live." I explain. "I came from a bad place. I was taken there against my will from my home when I was really little, and even home I never saw the sky or grass. Everything was crackly dirt and the sky was covered by a big grey cloud. Well, at least that's about as much as I remember from it. The place I was taken to was a lab, and they kept me in a big room with a glass wall on one side where people would watch me, and the floor was only ever stone or tile. They almost never let me out of the room, except for when they needed to take me to some kind of testing room with bigger equipment, and there was no way they'd ever let me outside."

"That's...awful." Orange says, sounding sad.

"It was... I'm glad I got out." I say, looking out to the pretty scenery.

We're both quiet for a second. Then, Orange carefully grabs my arm and starts leading me through the plains. It's a bit awkward since I'm so much bigger than him.

"Well, you're out of there now, and you get to see all the stuff you've been missing!" He says happily. Orange notices my nervousness. "Don't worry, it's completely safe here. Nothing dangerous comes over here."

"Oh- That's not what I'm nervous about. Grass just feels weird and I'm not sure if I like it."

"What? But the grass is nice! And it's not dead and dry, too. It's soft grass."

Orange stops, lets go of my arm, and sits down right there in the middle of the plains. He looks up and motions for me to do the same. Hesitantly, I slowly lower myself to the ground and sit. The grass is touching my arms now. Maybe if I get a better feel of it, it won't feel weird?

I grab a few bits of grass and pull, picking the small, long leaves of the plant. I run my fingers through the blades and hold a few while playing with the grass for a while. Orange seems happy I'm playing with the grass for some reason. Speaking of, he's actually right. It is soft.

After a bit, I decide to lie down in the grass. It tickles my face and feels funny. Not weird, but not as soft like it felt in my hands. Looking through the blades of grass, I see a few tiny bugs that I didn't notice before. Cool.

I suddenly feel a few small tugs on my hair, and look out of the corner of my eyes to see Orange. He's sitting next to me with some colorful things on his lap, and he's messing with my hair.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm tying flowers in your hair." Orange replies. "It's fun and you look a little less intimidating now."

"Oh. Cool."

I did kind of scare the crud out of him when we first met. I also get why my height is scary to other people, Orange says that bigger things usually beat up smaller things. But I won't do that. I want to make friends with the other people here.

It's nice and peaceful while Orange keeps putting flowers in my hair, and I just keep watching the bugs in the grass. The sound of the wind going through the plains is calming, it's like music but there's no notes. The sunlight is warm and feels nice. I never knew that it felt that nice.

...I already like it here.
