"We-"
"Don't worry," Charles pressed his hands gently against the girl's shoulders, as she slightly panicked on the spot. She was sure the paparazzi were nearby, trying to snap some pictures for the internet. "We didn't do whatever we intended to do."
"So-"
"We just kissed, Adley, but I should've stopped myself," He looked down on the floor, having a sudden interest in his shoes. "You wouldn't let me go, and I really wanted what you gave me last night... so I didn't protest. In the end I wanted you to be comfortable, so I changed you."
Suddenly all the memories came flooding back to her: the moment she had called Charles to come over, the time she forced him against the wall. "Charles. What about all the ignoring?"
"Well," He muttered. It was hard to explain. He didn't want to tell Adley the simple truth of him having the slightest interest in his fellow driver's sister. "I-I just didn't want you to find out the truth."
"You could've told me," She said, crossing her arms across her chest. "It was my fault. I wanted you specifically last night, I didn't tell you."
"Lando's going to kill me, isn't he?" He gently touched her arm.
"As long as we don't tell him." Adley said. "It'll be hard, for you and me both to keep this secret away from Lando. But it'll be for the best." She placed a finger on his lips, and for a moment, accidentally felt his lips. They were soft.
"I-" Charles was too shocked. "You love Lando."
"He's my brother, but once we've got this all figured out," Adley bit her lip hard. "We'll solve this together, okay?"
"I have one more question," Charles grasped her arm gently before she could leave. She turned around, slightly hesitating but obeyed. "Please."
"Yes?" Adley muttered anxiously, rubbing the fabric of her shirt.
"Did you actually feel something?" He looked into her eyes, making the silence more uncomfortable. She looked down. It would be awkward if he didn't love her back.
"I'm sorry, Charles." Adley muttered silently. "I didn't feel anything."
"Great! I was just checking," He nodded, faking his best smile. "I'll see you tomorrow on the track, wish me luck."
"Alright," She faked her smile as well, heading over to the McLaren motorhome to wait for Lando and see what had happened during the talk. As Charles walked back over to his car, he felt something he hadn't felt in years, perhaps even ages. He forgot the feeling when he decided to stop his difficult love life.
Heartbroken.
Charles was heartbroken.
~~
Dreams.
Adley hated dreams. Especially the ones that reflected on her childhood and the difficult teenage times, when no one believed the fact she was in touch with a famous boyband, and got dumped leaving a four year relationship that was for a bet.
Lando was really the only one who got her through all of this. Liv never really paid attention to her at the time, considering Luke was her best friend. Without any luck for the both of them, Liv was the one who dumped her boyfriend.
"I don't want to fall asleep, it's the second time I've gone through heartbreak and I'll get my childhood memories as a dream again," Adley laid on her back, feeling especially horrible after all those shots at the hotel's personal bar. Liv was worried her best friend would go through something like this, so she stayed behind to check on her every few hours.
"You'll be able to sleep peacefully," The two Brits had gone to the bar, hopefully helping each other with their relationship problems. They ended up not washing all the pain away with cocktails and different kinds of drinks they spent their money on.
"I won't," She rubbed her eyes and reached for her phone on the bedside table, but Liv reached for it and pulled it away. "Liv. Why?"
"You need rest," She said, slipping Adley's phone into her pocket. "You'll be able to have this back once you fall asleep completely."
"What if there was an emergency and I needed the phone?" Adley asked.
"Call the lobby," Liv muttered coldly. She was doing it for her best friend, but she wouldn't expect the dangers that Adley could face. "I need you to be asleep, and I would not care less about your stupid dreams."
"I hate you." Adley turned her back against Liv, and shut her eyes tightly, in hope of falling asleep peacefully. Liv sighed and and left the room, returning to her own. Adley never wanted dreams. But they always came to her.
Always.
Someone suddenly knocked at the door, and Adley was careful not to open it immediately. She opened it slowly and looked out.
Charles.
He looked pained, blood trickling down his forehead. Adley bit her lip and was ready to slam the door in his face, and say something rude. But he stopped the door. "Please, Norris. Just help me and I'll do anything."
"You've got the wrong sibling," Adley closed the door, but Charles was too strong for her. He pushed the door open again, with her stepping away so he could enter. Charles slumped onto the nearest chair and groaned. "What happened to you, Leclerc?"
"Something." He ignored the long explanations he wanted to do.
"I'm worried, Charles, c'mon," She went to her bag and took out some alcoholic wipes and plasters. "This is going to hurt a bit, Leclerc."
Adley wiped the the wound as he groaned in pain, gripped the sides of the chair hard. "I-I got into a fight at the bar and someone through a glass bottle at me. I dodged but a piece flew straight at my head."
"Why did you go to the bar?" She muttered, sticking the plaster onto the spot.
"Heartbreak," He was slurring on his words, and then she realised he was completely drunk and not in his senses. "It hurts. I wish I never fought."
"You have a race tomorrow," Adley moved around the room while scolding him like a mother. "I would be very surprised if the wound didn't hurt once you put your helmet on."
"Okay," The silent was quite tensed, as she wiped the rest of the blood off of Charles' face, as he stared at her admiringly. Adley set a glass of water on the table and tied her hair up, strands of hair falling down on her face. "You look beautiful."
"I can dream about it," She pursed her lips, laying her head on the table. "You can go back to your room any time you want. I'm just resting, I've gone through something today."
"What happened?" Charles continued to stare at her in admiration, a little bit drowsy. "Did you have a fight? If so, can we talk?"
"Charles, go rest. You have a race tomorrow," Adley insisted, heading over to the door. But Charles pulled her back by her shirt. "Charles. Please."
"I want to stay," He whined. "Please."
"No, you can go back to your room and take a rest, it's too late, you have a race tomorrow and you need to be energised," Adley pulled him up and led him to the door. "We can talk about whatever you need to talk about tomorrow."
"But-"
"Charles," Even though having him in her room was something that she had wanted badly for a while, it was time for him to rest. Besides, she didn't want herself confessing to everything during their talk about the fight. "Rest."
"Well, I wanna rest here then," He pointed at the extra beds. "Please?"
"My best friend's not here yet, you need to sleep in your room," Adley ordered more sternly. He looked at her with a poor expression on his face, before silently agreeing to the fact that he needed and rest and left the room.
She emptied her pockets for her phone, then realised Liv had taken it. She couldn't call Lando or anything, and besides, his phone could be off. Adley crawled back to bed and rest her head against the pillow gently, falling asleep.
