                    Chapter 3

Jaime looks at me expectantly as I nibble at the anchovy salmon pizza. "Come on just bite it." Jaime says. I stare at it for a minute before taking a small bite. I scrunch my nose.

"It's a little fishy."

"Just pick off some anchovy that's what makes so fishy."

I do as he says and pick off some anchovy and take another bite. "It's not bad." I say placing the rest on the plate.

There is a knock at the door. I hear a bunch of noise and then see the guys walk in. "Where are Jayden and TeAnna?" Jaime questions.

"They were busy." Mike answers. We stand around looking at each other for a few beats until Jaime breaks the silence. Of course something always has to be happening with him.

"Okay do you guys wanna watch a movie or something?"

"Sure." We all say. Heading to the living room,  they immediately gather around the couch, Tony and Vic are on the floor looking at DVDs.

"So what do you guys wanna watch?" Jaime asks looking through the DVDs. Everyone looks at each other shrugging. Then there is me, sitting on the couch with my knees to my chest, not responding at all.

"We can go to Blockbusters and rent a movie or something." I say finally after no one says anything, and I can sense Jaime slowly dying from the lack of action.

"Okay let's get in my car." Jaime jumps up grabbing his keys.

Since his truck only seats 3, and there's 5 of us I was in the back with Vic and the rest were in the car. Since this wasn't totally legal anymore we had to lay down so no one would see us.

As we were driving we saw red and blue lights and heard a siren from right behind us.

Shiz.

I looked over to Vic, panic stricken and heard him shush me. He lightly touched the top of my hand with his index finger and pointed to a tarp of some sort, stuffed in one corner of the truck.

"You're smaller. Grab it." He whispers and I inched slowly down, crossing my fingers this was one of those cops that takes forever to get out of the car. But just to my luck I heard a car door open. I look back up at Vic with the same panic and see he is holding a calm expression, lightly encouraging me to finish the job. I grab the corner of the tarp as quietly as I can and gently lift it over me, scooting back next to Vic. Once I am back on his level, we pull the tarp over us and lay down flat. Our heads turned towards each other.

We hear the cop walk past the truck and without thinking too much about it, I grab Vic's hand and squeeze my eyes tightly shut. The window rolls down, and I can just imagine Jaime, with his never faltering smile.

"License and registration." The cop says sounding slightly bored. A long silence follows, and I can hear my heart beating in my ears. After realizing my eyes are still shut, I open them and see Vic looking at me rather amused. He squeezes my hand and I stick my tongue out at him.

"Okay. Do you mind telling me where you all are headed?"

"We were just on our way to blockbusters, Mr," There is a pause. "Pauly."

We heard little bits of what the cop was saying and basically one of Jaime's lights are out and the cop was just telling him instead of giving him a ticket.

The cop left and we let out our breaths. "Thank goodness he didn't see us." I half whisper.

I walk up and down the aisles and soon come across a perfect movie. I quickly grab it and run up to Jaime.
