As I'm working a late shift, DG had the nerve to leave me all by myself. There wasn't much to do besides sleep, and eat the stores own merchandise. Which, I'm more than likely going to get in trouble for. But, oh well it's their fault for leaving me unsupervised. It's not long into the night before I'm startled by a sudden appearance of a fidgety, nervous dude looking back at me. Honestly, he looks elegant yet depressed. "Sorry! I- I didn't mean to startle you." He quickly apologizes, his hands tugging at the rim of his sweater nervously. I simply wave it off, it was no biggie. Surprised I didn't hear him coming. "Anything I can help ya' with?" I ask, my head cocking to the side as his expression changes. "Oh! Uh, just this pack of gum, please." He replies, handing me a pack of gum. "gotchya'." I nod, taking the box of gum, "will that be all?" I ask quickly before I go to ring him up for his total price. Yes, that's all. Thank you." He murmurs in response, breaking the brief eye contact by looking down at his shifting feet. "alright." I shrug, ringing up the total and sliding the gum pack back over to him. "75 cents." I say, looking from the register to the nervous fella in front of me. Ah, okay." He nods slightly, pulling out some coins from his pocket and handing them to me. His fingers brush against mine briefly, sending a shiver down my spine. "Thank you again." He says, his eyes locked on yours. "no problem, and uh, kind of just an offer but you seem a bit down in the dumps so I thought maybe I'd offer. uh- free candy cane?" I pull one from the rack and offer it out to him, forcing a small awkward smile. Damon smiles slowly, his cheeks flushing slightly as he takes the candy cane from you. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate it." He says softly, his eyes never leaving yours. "And uh, yeah, I am feeling a bit down." He replies, "I don't mean to pry, but may I ask why?" I lean forward against the counter, propping my chin up on my hand as my head tilts slightly. Damon hesitates for a moment, his fingers playing nervously with the wrapper of the candy cane. "Well, i just got rejected. so, I'm not feeling the best." Y'know despite the, awkward, shy and nervous exterior he seems like a really sweet guy. "man, really? that's surprising. you seem like a sweet person." I say, folding my arms across my chest as I stand up straight again. Well, I try to be." He says softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "But sometimes it's hard when people don't see what I'm offering." He sighs, his gaze falling back down to his feet again. "well damn, now I feel bad for charging you. even if it is a couple of cents." I sigh, glancing around the store to see if I could find something to gift him. "stay here," I say, walking off and shortly after returning with a long white box in my hands with a red ribbon tied around it. I set it on the counter.

"this is just a gift, free of charge. figured maybe it'll make your rejection hurt less?" I shrugged, laughing awkwardly. Damon's eyes widened as he looked at the box on the counter. He couldn't believe someone was being so kind to him. "Oh my god, you don't have to do that." He says softly, biting his bottom lip nervously. " "I insist. plus, I'll feel kinda embarrassed if you don't take it...." I say, sliding the box closer to him. Really hoping he'll just take it, I'll feel like such a dumbass if he doesn't. Damon hesitates for a moment before slowly reaching out to pick up the box. "Thank you... really." He says softly, his heart racing with excitement about what could be inside. He quickly tucks the box under his arm, trying to hide his excitement but failing miserably. "of course. have a good night, dude." I wave, smiling softly. "oh, and don't let that rejection hurt ya' too bad! I'm sure you'll find a real sweet one someday." I add quickly. Damon nods, feeling a small smile tug at his lips. "I'll try not to let it bother me too much. Thank you, again." He says, still a little overwhelmed by the kindness shown to him. "don't sweat it." I nod lightly as Damon quietly waves goodbye and leaves the store.

Finally, reaching a bench in a quiet part of the local park he gently unties the ribbon from around the white box to find a beautiful dark red roses with the thorns cut off, but the rest of the plant unharmed. "Wow... these are beautiful." He murmurs to himself, running his fingers over the soft petals of the rose. He couldn't believe someone would be so kind to him, especially some random cashier. Damon feels his stomach flutter as his face begins to flush with a soft, but growing more vibrant blush the more he holds this delicate flower. "Thank you... whoever you are." He whispers, his heart racing as these feelings begin to overwhelm him. He feels the need to go back to the store and get your name... maybe he'll visit again, soon. real soon. and so it begins. This new crush, new possible lover, new... game. Damon knew he'd have to come back as finding out this Cashiers name was his new mission, his priority. "Yes, this is just the beginning." He says to himself with determination, clutching the box containing the roses tightly against his chest. His mind is already racing with plans on how to approach you and find out who you are. He can't wait to see you again..
