Part One

Shadehopper jumped out of the shadow realm and looked around. The night was silent, a cool breeze blew through her hair. There was no one around but her, or so it seemed. She felt eyes staring at her from around a tree.

"Who's there?" She asked, spinning to the direction of the tree.

"I'm surprised you found me so quickly," The person stepped out from behind the tree, he was tall, blond, had strangely shaped pink sunglasses, and a large pink fluffy coat that he just had resting on his shoulders."Sorry for spying, it's not every day you see someone with a devil fruit quite like your's."

"What in the void is a devil fruit?" Shadehopper asked, thoroughly confused by what that was.

"..." He was silent for a moment as if trying to figure out if she was joking or not. When she didn't respond and just looked at him, he explained,"they are fruits said to be the spawn of the devil, but when consumed will give the consumer magic powers in exchange for never swimming again."

"Oh, well then no!I can't eat solid things." Shadehopper told him,"I was born with my abilities, and I can swim or at least last time I checked. But my powers do have limits." She stopped for a moment Deciding if she had said enough before asking,"what's your name?"

"I feel like I should be asking you that." he started before answering her question,"my name is Donquixote Doflamingo, one of the seven warlords."

"My name is Shadehopper and you can never be too careful." She responded,"I can't even trust my own father, let alone my king."

"Who are they?" he asked.

"My king is a murderer, and he uses me like a tool!" She explained bitterly,"my father killed my mother and he abandoned me and my sister..." she stopped for a moment wondering how her sister was doing.

"My father was also the cause of my sorrows, and the cause of my mother's death. I killed him myself when I was ten." Doflamingo told her and she looked up at him.

"I wish I could kill my father, to get vengeance for my mother." She explained.

"I like your attitude, and you seem to be pretty powerful." Doflamingo told Shadehopper,"would you like to join my crew?"

"I don't have anything better to do, and you seem pretty cool too." She smiled,"as long as you're fine with me randomly leaving and occasionally dragging home something weird, I'd love to join you. Also I can stay awake for a long time."

"Ok then, you can be my night watch, I'll take you to my kingdom, Dress Rosa" he told her before she hopped on his back, the coat was very fluffy and he noticed how light she was.

"I didn't know you were a king." She noted, surprised that this ruffian she found in the forest was so high in rank, not that she cared, all the kings she knew were rubbish.

"Well it's true, my kingdom is beautiful, and my crew is strong." He responded taking into the air.

They landed in a large room through the window of a castle. The room was large and had a large bed in the middle with a canopy. There were curtains, long and silk, that flowed in the wind. She hopped off of his back and looked around.

"Is this your room?" she asked,"am I going to be staying here?"

"Wha- no, this is my room, you'll get your own" he told her, gesturing for her to follow him. She followed him to a room like his, a little smaller with a closet, and two chairs.

He left her alone and she hopped into the covers of her large bed. The covers were silky and she sank into them easily, before falling asleep, having some of the first kindness in a century.
