Kevin McHale & Larry Bird: From Teammates to couples

Chapter Five

- The Gender Reveal -
Kevin Edward McHale- 6 months pregnant

Kevin McHale's POV:

Today is the day that I'm going to the clinic to determine the gender of my baby. Yet, Larry Bird will go to the ultrasound with me because I know that he will always go there. To be honest, when I found out I was pregnant, we never thought that we could be parents to our little baby. Let's just say, I felt weird thinking about it knowing that I was the first Boston Celtics player to be pregnant during my NBA career.

Boston, MA
8:00am,

"Kevin, wake up. You're going to be late for your appointment with the obstetrician," Mrs. McHale said entering the room. "I'm coming mom," He puts on his Celtics Basketball T-shirt and sweatpants as he goes downstairs to eat breakfast with his family. To a surprise, Larry Bird was there with him. Well, they approved the relationship between Kevin and his teammate Larry Bird due to the fact that they both played for Boston Celtics. When Kevin explained to his mother about the obstetrician telling him that he won't be playing for the rest of the season because of his pregnancy, he felt bummed out that he wasn't able to help his boyfriend win the championship, but Larry told him not to worry because he knows he would do it for Kevin and his soon to be future son and daughter.

Kevin McHale: I know that I can't turn back the clock, but I'm happy because I'm going to be a mom.

Mrs. McHale: that's great to hear that you validate your feelings about not being able to play in the court.

Kevin McHale: I know Mom. Besides, we could talk about the motherhood all day.

Mrs. McHale: that's right Kevin. Also, you and Larry Bird are becoming a great couple in the Boston Celtics.

Larry Bird: well yeah Mrs. McHale. Kevin means a lot to me and he's always family.

Mrs. McHale: I see. Once when the baby is born, I would love to hold the little angel in my arms.

Kevin McHale: Mom, you know the baby will be here in 3 months.

Mrs. McHale: Alright! Let's continue eating before we leave for Kevin's ultrasound and gender reveal. Perhaps, one of Kevin and Larry's family could hardly wait to find out whether they were going to have a boy or a girl.

~ Clinic ~
8:30am,

Kevin and Larry were joking around as they were talking about their funny moments while playing for the Boston Celtics and then listening to Modern Talking, Wham!, George Michael and other musicians who were always living in the era of the eighties.

Kevin McHale: Oh my goodness! Has anyone heard of the Modern Talking? I bet it was so hot that you couldn't resist their charm. Even as hot as Cher

Larry Bird: Kevin honey, did you ever have to mention Cher? You made me melt.

Kevin McHale: That's not me 😂. All I mention was Madonna, that's all.

Larry Bird: let me guess, you've been listening to Madonna all day using your dad's Cassette tape.

Kevin McHale: I did, but my dad decided to hide it from me because I was having a Madonna fever.

Larry Bird: Kevin, Kevin, Kevin 😂.

Kevin McHale: well you listened to Madonna too! I bet she's your crush. Not to mention, you listened to The Tears for fears while Robert Parrish would be tuning in when we were in the Boston Celtics Locker Room.

Larry Bird: Yep.

The nurse and the obstetrician arrived at the room where they heard the sound of the happiness and joy around the room. "You guys are having a great laugh! That's a very good feeling," The Nurse said. She prepares the machine for the ultrasound where they are going to determine if Kevin was going to have a boy or a girl.

Nurse: so Kevin and Larry, are you ready to find out whether you guys are having a boy or a girl?

Kevin and Larry: yes Nurse.

Nurse: Sounds good! Kevin can you do me a favor and lift your shirt for me please?

Kevin McHale: okay.

Kevin lifted his shirt as the nurse put the ultrasound monitor on his belly. When they noticed the unborn baby moving in his belly, Kevin asked if it was a boy or a girl.

Kevin McHale: Is it a boy or a girl?

Nurse: Well Kevin, I know it may sound exciting but congratulations! Your baby is a girl.

Kevin McHale: What? Oh my goodness! Larry, we're having a baby girl.

Larry Bird: That's great!

Larry kisses Kevin on the lips and then his baby bump.

Larry Bird's POV:

I am so excited to share this that Kevin and I are expecting a baby girl. Yet, I can hardly wait to tell my family about this and oh my! This is going to be amazing for both of us that me and Kevin are going to be parents soon to our unborn daughter, so we will be heading out to dinner tonight to celebrate.

Kevin McHale: Mom? Dad? You're not going to believe this.

Mr. And Mrs. McHale: what is it Kevin?

Kevin McHale: Actually, the baby is a girl!

Mr. And Mrs. McHale: Oh my! We're having a granddaughter!

Even the Bird family came over to congratulate the couple since they were both expecting a baby girl. The fans were very supportive for their favorite players and planned to go out for a dinner with the family to celebrate.

One night,

They were at the restaurant when the fans handed them some baby items and other things. Of course, Kevin McHale was having a baby shower in the restaurant. His teammates were there, so was Larry Bird. "Congratulations! Kevin and Larry!" One fan who was a mother of two boys said. "Thank you Madison," Kevin said smiling. Everyone in the restaurant was smiling, laughing and also enjoying their time together.

Kevin McHale's POV:

I had my first baby shower at the restaurant and man! It was the best experience I've ever had. Honestly, I always think of something that would work better for me and Larry Bird. In the meantime, I was certain that I could attend the Championship parade together before I am due to give birth. In case anyone wonders if I am going to have a home birth, go to the birthing center or go to the hospital, I'll have to wait and see.
