Jake's POV:

We gasped as we saw what was behind us. "Whew," I sighed. "That was way too close. Sean, what were you doing in there?" "I-I, I don't know, I panicked and that was the only thing that came to mind, I'm sorry." Sean apologized. "Well, next time try to think more rationally, ok?" Zander said. Sean nodded. "Anyway, now we need to find my Lukey. Where could he be?" Zander muttered. "Let's check out the closed doors, anyone could be in there." Hailey said. "Good thinking Hailey." Milly complimented. Hailey smiled.

We ran through the hallways, searching for closed doors. We found one and when I tried to open the door, it was burning hot. "Ow! Tsss, we need ice or something to be able to open it." I said. "Hmm, we could try breaking the door?" Zander asked. We then all tried to kick the door open but to no avail, it was still impossible to. "There's some rooms with a window on it, maybe there's a window for this one?" Milly asked. "We could try. Maybe there's a window on the corner over there." Zander said, pointing to the right. Milly ran over and exclaimed, "Zander, you're right!" We ran over and saw a window and sure enough, there was Luke! "Lukey! Anybody have something to break the window?" Zander asked. I held my metal water bottle. "Is this good?" I asked. Zander nodded. "That's perfect!" Zander said. "Now you guys, be careful of the glass, yeah?" We all nodded. Zander took a few steps back, finally he ran towards the window and banged the water bottle onto it. The glass shattered, basically exploding in a million pieces as it flew everywhere.

"Zander?" Luke gasped, his clothes dimmed black from the ash. "Luke, what are you doing in here?" Zander asked, holding his hand as they jumped through the window. "When the announcement started, I was trying to be responsible and listen to the teachers but since everyone was running, the teachers were more concerned about them not listening to the rules and by that time, the room was already full of fire and the door was unusable. I had to be on the floor to get oxygen." Luke explained. "Why didn't you break the window?" I asked. "I didn't have anything to break it. I was just trying to stay alive and not pass out." Luke replied. "Oh Luke! I'm just glad you're alive!" Zander exclaimed as Luke and Zander kissed. "Ugh, enough already! Now we gotta get outta here!" Milly screamed. "Alright I got it!" Zander screamed as he and Luke held hands while following the rest of us to the exit.

We were smooth sailing! ...Until we hit a dead end. The ground was on fire, blocking our path, and we couldn't jump over, our legs would've been burnt to a crisp. I kept looking around and saw another way. "This way guys!" I yelled, running. Luckily, no dead end this time but there was a lot of smoke on the roof so we had to crawl our way outside. The roof was unstable and could fall at any moment so we tried to move fast but then... "WATCH OUT!" Sean screamed and pushed me out of the way. I looked up as a heavy piece of the roof fell on Sean's left ankle. "AHH!" He screamed in pain as the heavy and burning piece of metal touched and grinded into his leg. "Guys, help me get it off him!" I screamed. Everyone held up the piece of metal and set it aside. "Sean! Are you ok?" I asked worryingly. "Y-yeah, I'm fine." Sean stuttered, sitting up.

While we were crawling, Sean had slight difficulty catching up with us and I was slowly getting light-headed. "C'mon we're almost there!" Hailey said, looking at the sunlight that was far away from us. "Let's run for it!" Zander said, standing up and running, Luke's hand in his own, trying hard to keep up. Hailey and Milly followed soon after while me and Sean had a struggle. Sean was limping and I was about to faint. Sean made it to the exit door but when I was about to make it through the door, I fell forward and everything turned black.
