It had been two days since I last saw Darien standing in my dorm room stating he was going to steal my first kiss. Every morning, I was frantic—what if today I saw him? My entire flesh would burn bright red and he would give me a stupid, arrogant, cocky grin that knew he caused it. So, instead of spending my day panicking, I spent the following days as an insane, studying zombie. I told myself to focus first on my courses. I needed to keep the scholarship or everything would fall apart.

As I sat in the lecture hall, viciously writing down every single word the professor said, I was startled when someone sat beside me. Their arm brushed against my thin transparent sleeve and I gazed up to see Porter giving me a soft grin.

"Did someone steal your seat?" I asked, quickly scanning behind me to see the seat empty.

"Am I that revolting to sit beside?" He jokingly cocked a brow and I shook my head.

"No—I just—it's, uh," I began, fumbling with words. Our voices were hushed to prevent form getting caught. Porter gave me a confused look, waiting for a response. "It's distracting..."

Well done, idiot.

He huffed out a soft laugh and looked ahead at the large chalkboard. "Distracting?"

I swallowed, nervously. "You're distracting."

With that, his eyes swung back to me and he studied my red-faced expression. "As in---I'm too damn sexy?" My chest grew heavy from embarrassment and from my apparent expression, Porter slowly smiled. "Well, I'll keep my attractive looks on the down low so you can focus." I rolled my eyes as he laughed deeply in his chest.

The next hour Porter teased me subtly, stretching his arms so that he laid it across the back of my chair, nudging me with his elbow, asking me to repeat what the professor said. I would have been mad but instead, I couldn't stop fighting back a grin.

As I stood up, about to gather my books, Porter beat me to it and scooped his and my books into his large arms.

"So, are you busy right now?"

I looked over at him as we trekked down the steps. "I was actually going to spend my day studying—we have that midterm coming up for this class and I want to ace it." When I went to push open the heavy ass door, it wouldn't budge. Porter smiled cheekily as he used one hand to swing it open and I playfully glared at him.

"Actually, I need to study for that too. Maybe, we could study together?" He sounded nervous, a trance of fear in his voice. I glanced up at him to see he was waiting, brows lifted.

"I guess," I said with a smile.

The large grin that overtook his lips startled me. The smile spread to his other features, eyes wrinkled, laugh lines visible. "Study at my place?"

"Sure."

With that, we were off, back in his black car and driving through campus towards his house. I never asked where he lived and when we turned onto the same street as the frat house, my heart stopped.

Oh no.

Please, please don't do this to me.

I shut my eyes as I heard the engine die and Porter take the keys out. "You alright?"

Before I looked at him, I peeked out my window to see in factor we were parked in the driveway of the frat house. "You live here too?"
