It was a damp morning. The dew drops glistened in the sunlight and the leaves of trees rusted in the wind. I was exhausted from working on badly injured patients all night, we were short on staff as the other Kakushis had been sent out to collect people too damaged to even walk so I was doing night shifts and day shifts.

"I need water!"

"I'm hungry!"

"It's too cold."

"It's too warm."

"I'm gonna puke!"

The complaints never ended, but being a Kakushi meant I can't stand up to my superiors, especially not the Hashiras. The Hashiras are the most powerful, strong, important, respected and wealthy slayers in the whole world. If a Kakushi were to disrespect or speak up to a Hashira, we would probably be fired instantly, if not then just on bad terms, which still isn't great.

I gather some supplies from the nearest cupboard and put them on my trolley, wheeling it into the hospital ward of the butterfly mansion. Miss Aoi and the Caterpillar girls were already in there, treating patients. I bow my head to Aoi and quickly walk to another patient.

"About time!" He snaps, "I'm in agony! You better have some good medicine for me!"

Ignorant patients wasn't an irregular occurance, but that didn't make the experience any better. I began looking through my tray for some painkillers or something when the patient begins yelling.

"Are you dumb or something!? You should know instantly what to give me, you're a Kakushi for heavens sake!" He continues ranting on until a small voice butts in. It was little Kiyo.

"Excuse me sir, treat the Kakushi with the same respect you would to other slayers. They are human too!" She says, trying to sound tough. I gave her a thumbs up and smiled beneath my mask which covered the lower half of my face.

The man rolls his eyes, embarrassed a child just scolded him. He remains silent for the rest of his treatment.

When I finished applying ointments and bandaging wounds the slayer muttered his thanks, in return I bowed my head, though I didn't mean it. I had to show respect as part as my job.

Suddenly, when I thought I could get a little rest, a booming voice enters the room.

"I request medical attention, now." The voice announces.

I turn my head to see a tall man, bedazzled in jewellery. He has long white hair tied back in a tight ponytail. His eyes were a beautiful pink and his left eye was decorated in red graphic eyeliner. His nails were painted pink and green and he had an oddly charming grin on his face.

He struts into the room, approaching me. "Kakushi, I'm wounded. Heal me." He demands, pointing a finger in my face.

I quickly recognised him as the sound pillar. I fall into a deep bow, this time actually meaning it. I had lots of respect for the Hashiras.

He let's out a loud belly laugh. "You don't need to greet me with all that fancy schmancy crap. Yes it's rather flamboyant, but I don't care right now."

I stand up again, blushing from embarrassment beneath my mask. "Oh, of course sir. I'll get you checked up right now." I begin to guide him to a bed so I could examine the damage.

When he lays on the bed he crosses his legs and puts his hands on his head, acting like he owned the place. Who does this guy think he is?

"Alright sir, where are your wounds at?" I ask, treating him like any other patient.

He points to his right hip. "It's here. Can't you see the blood seeping through?" He was clearly not trying to hide the mockery in his tone, but he was right. A crimson red patch moistened his tight uniform. It was pretty hard to miss..

"Uhm, I see, sir...but uh...its mandatory we ask..." I said. It was a complete lie. Although I respected the Hashiras, I wasn't about to be outsmarted by one.

"Mhm..anyway, I haven't got all day, patch me up already!" He demands.

Jeez, he was so damn cocky...

"Yes sir, I'm right on it." I sigh, trying to hide the annoyance in my tone.

I reach over to lift up his shirt. He gives me a sharp glare.

"Excuse me..?" He snaps.

I raise an eyebrow. "I have to lift your shirt to see the wound sir..I've done this with plenty of patients.."

Uzui shrugs and looks away, unbothered by me.

As I lift his shirt, it reveals his deep wound, accompanied by rippling, rock hard abs that even the straightest of men would find attractive. It would be inappropriate of me to comment on them, so I tried to ignore them and finish fixing his wound.

I dab the wound gently with disinfectant as Tengen quietly winces as the cotton pad and stinging liquid meets his skin. Once I'm done cleansing his cut, I grab some bandages from the cart.

"I'm gonna need you to stand up for this bit, if you're able." I explain.

Tengen rolls his eyes before getting out of bed. "You women, always demanding."

I shoot a glare at him. Although I respected Hashiras, I wasn't gonna let him being sexist slide. "Excuse me?"

He chuckles smugly. "Yep, always telling us men what to do and how to do it!"

"Tsk, you have to do this so I can bandage you up!" I scold, getting pissed off by the way he spoke. "I bet you know nothing about women.." I mutter to myself.

He laughed again, almost hysterically. It seemed he had heard me.. "Babe, I have 3 wives. If any dude knows women it's me."

My cheeks flush a light red, my mouth drops slightly open. Thankfully it was hidden because of my mask. He has three wives...? "Don't call me 'babe', sir. It isn't appropriate. And you have 3 wives? What're their names?"

He smirks. "Why do you want to know?"

I sigh. "Just striking up a convo..."

Uzui shrugs, the same smirk remained on his lips. "Makio, Suma and my lovely Hinatsuru." He seemed to smile at the thought of them. "Listen, I appreciate you trying to make this less awkward, or whatever..but can you just like, not talk? I just wanna get bandaged and rest."

I nod, glad I don't have to talk to him anymore. I was losing my respect for Hashiras with every second of that interaction.

I kneel down to his waist and begin to wrap the bandage around his hips. He kinda just stood staring at me. I was thankful he wasn't perverted, lots of slayers have to get bandages around their hips, which means I have to kneel down so that my face is near their crotch..a lot of the time, male and sometimes female slayers would sexualise it. Usually Aoi is always there to stop it, but sometimes I'm not so lucky, and just have to distract myself...Although he was cocky, he was respectful.

Once I was finally done, I stood up and brushed off my uniform. "I'm just gonna go get you some fresh clothing to change into, you need to stay here for a while to heal." I explain before popping into the next room to grab some hospital pyjamas for Tengen. He was a real handful when it came to his personality, but he seemed like a great guy nonetheless.
